Tech events in Amsterdam this week: Tech Week opens, co-founders wanted (12–18 June)
Deep tech week is barely out the door and Amsterdam Tech Week walks straight in. The tech events in Amsterdam this week trade last week's mega-conferences for something more useful to most people reading this: rooms where things actually start — a co-founder matching afternoon, a grants clinic, and no fewer than three free pitch events. Plus one last roar from the developer-conference cluster on Friday. If last week was for attending, this week is for participating.
The Big One: Finder — Meet your Co-founder
⭐ Featured and 🔥 running hot. Finder: Meet your Co-founder — Tue 16 June, AMS Institute, free.
Third edition of Amsterdam's structured co-founder matching event, and the official opener of Amsterdam Tech Week. It's built for two audiences: people with a venture who need a partner, and experienced joiners looking for the right early-stage bet. The format is deliberate matching, not a mixer with name tags — which is why it keeps producing actual teams. It's the hottest listing on our Amsterdam board right now, and it's free. One correction from our own registration: the confirmation email says 15:00–19:00 CEST, so block the afternoon, not the evening, whatever other times you've seen floating around.
The week ahead, day by day
Friday 12 June — React Summit 2026, Kromhouthal (De Overkant), paid. The world's largest React conference: 1,500+ in the room, 10,000+ online. Third GitNation event at this venue in two weeks — Noord has earned its developer-quarter stripes.
- The Nursery presents: Grants for AI Startups, Startup Village Amsterdam, free. Sira Incentives walks early-stage AI founders through Dutch public funding. Unglamorous, potentially worth six figures.
- ⭐ AfricArena Amsterdam Summit 2026, Google Amsterdam, €50. The African tech ecosystem tour's one-day Amsterdam stop — founders and investors bridging two continents, featured for good reason.
Tuesday 16 June — Finder (above), plus the start of SpecterOps EU 2026 Trainings at the Apollo Hotel — four days, €4,000, hands-on offensive security from the BloodHound people. For security teams with training budget, not browsers.
Wednesday 17 June — Uncharted Risks, Van der Valk Hotel Zuidas, free. PRMIA's evening on how financial institutions are repositioning risk frameworks — AI decisioning included. A fintech crowd without the fintech-conference price tag.
- Developed: Amsterdam, TNW City. Eight European startups from ACT | The App Association's Scale Lab pitch and network.
- Zeta Alpha — Improving Multi-Agent Workflows with Self-Optimization, LAB42. An interactive session on agents that improve themselves instead of you endlessly tweaking prompts. The week's best technical free ticket.
- Innovators Arena 2026 — Grand Finale, E|SPORTS TECH CAMPUS (H20 Esports Stadium), Zuidoost. Eight startups pitch the season finale on an esports stage.
First-timer's note: how to do a co-founder event properly
If Finder is your first matching event, three things. One: arrive with a single crisp sentence — what you're building or what you bring ("ex-fintech PM, 16 hours a week, looking for a technical lead" beats your CV). Two: the structured rounds are the point; resist the urge to camp with people you already know. Three: the follow-up coffee within 48 hours is where co-founders actually happen — the event is the shortlist, not the decision. And it's fine to say no politely; everyone there understands the stakes of saying yes.
Who should go where
Founders — Finder on Tuesday if you're team-building, the grants session Monday if you're AI and underfunded (most of you). With three free pitch events on Thursday, pick the room where your sector's judges sit rather than trying all three.
Investors — your dealflow is Thursday: Developed at TNW City and Innovators Arena's finale run the same evening, sixteen startups between them. Monday's AfricArena is the differentiated bet — cross-continental dealflow most Benelux funds never see.
Builders — React Summit on Friday closes the GitNation run; Thursday's Zeta Alpha session at LAB42 is the free pick, and small enough to actually ask questions. And keep next weekend free — see below.
Sales & marketing — quietest lens this week. Wednesday's risk evening on the Zuidas is the one if financial services is your market; otherwise invest the week in following up the past fortnight's haul.
Last week, briefly
Hello Tomorrow made its Amsterdam debut at NDSM, with the city's own Deep Tech Showcase and the Startup World Cup Benelux final at AI House packed around it. Telling detail: the Showcase was so oversubscribed that the City of Amsterdam declined registrations on capacity and eligibility grounds — ours included, so we can confirm the door policy was real. What it means this week: deep tech's circus has moved on, but the founders it energised are exactly who you'll meet at Finder and Thursday's pitch nights.
Worth knowing
- MEGATHON starts Friday 19 June — the multi-day hackathon at The HUBB runs through Sunday 21. Our registration is confirmed and the organiser's Discord went live this week (discord.gg/gR5y53vF78) — join it before the event; team-forming has clearly already started.
- DuckCon #7 lands Wednesday 24 June at the Royal Tropical Institute — the data-engineering community conference, now listed. Our registration confirmed this week; data folks, that's your post-Tech-Week treat.
- Finder's timing: worth repeating — our confirmation says 15:00–19:00 CEST. Trust the ticket.
