Berlin tech events this week: climate tech takes the stage (12–18 June)

Last week Berlin hosted the cheque-writers; this week it hosts the consequences. The tech events in Berlin between 12 and 18 June are fewer but pointed — a breather week with one banger and some seriously solid regulars. The banger fills Station Berlin with climate tech from Wednesday. Before that: a DevOps deep-dive for builders, a public-sector security congress at the Adlon, and the city's most dependable free networking evening to close it out.

The Big One: GreenTech Festival Berlin 2026

⭐ Featured. GreenTech Festival Berlin 2026 — Wed 17 June, three days at Station Berlin, paid.

Berlin's flagship gathering for the people and companies pushing sustainability and climate technology forward, in the old postal station in Kreuzberg. What makes it more than an exhibition: the crowd mixes climate founders, corporate sustainability budgets and investors in one venue, which makes it one of the few places in Germany where a climate startup can meet its customer and its Series A lead on the same afternoon. Last week's bio:cap showed how Berlin pairs science with capital; GreenTech does the same for climate. If sustainability is anywhere in your roadmap — or your sales pitch — Wednesday to Friday is where you should be.

The week ahead, by track

For the shippers. DevOpsCon Berlin 2026 starts Mon 15 June at the Maritim proArte, paid. One of Europe's most established conferences for CI/CD, Kubernetes, microservices and DevSecOps — and the 2026 edition is built around how AI is reshaping the whole pipeline. We told builders last week to hold their budget; this is what for. Same venue hosts Webinale's final workshop day on Fri 12 June, the tail of last week's conference — a quiet hands-on Friday if you have a workshop ticket.

For the security crowd. PITS 2026 — Public-IT-Security-Kongress runs Tue 16 June, two days at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski, paid. Germany's flagship event for IT security in the public sector — federal and state IT leaders in one (very nice) room. Niche, but if you sell security into government, this is the densest buyer concentration of your quarter.

For everyone. Thursday Gathering #58 — Thu 18 June, Venture Café Berlin / CIC, free. The weekly fixture, 150–250 founders, investors, corporates and curious people. No theme gimmick this week, just the most reliable room in the city. If you only do one thing this week and your budget is zero, it's this.

Who should go where

Founders — climate and energy founders, clear your Wednesday: GreenTech Festival is your customer base, your press and your investors in one building. Everyone else, Thursday Gathering remains the best free bet — and a good place to debrief whoever you met during last week's blowout.

Investors — a quiet week after SuperReturn; the one worth your time is GreenTech Festival if climate is in your thesis. Otherwise use Thursday at Venture Café to catch founders in a room that costs you nothing but attention.

Builders — DevOpsCon is the main course, finally. If you can't get a conference ticket signed off, note that the hands-on action this month keeps clustering at the Maritim proArte — worth knowing for next year's budget round.

Sales & marketing — two buyer-dense rooms: GreenTech Festival for anyone selling sustainability-adjacent products, PITS if public sector is your territory. Skip the generic mixers; neither of these crowds reconvenes soon.

Last week, briefly

The capital week delivered: SuperReturn Venture filled the Hotel Palace with 1,000+ VCs and LPs, TEDxBerlin ran its two-day AI programme between Factory Berlin Mitte and the Berliner Ensemble, bio:cap debuted its life-science "Investival" at the CityCube, and Bosch ConnectedWorld opened at the Tempodrom. What that means for this week: a lot of fresh business cards in this city. The follow-up coffee matters more than the next conference — and Thursday Gathering #58 is precisely the room where those coffees get scheduled.

FAQ corner

Is PITS in English?

No — PITS runs in German. It's Behörden Spiegel's congress for public-administration IT security, and the programme language reflects the audience. If your German isn't workshop-grade, send a German-speaking colleague or skip it; don't burn a ticket finding out.

Is the Thursday Gathering really free? Do I need to register?

Really free — Venture Café's model is sponsor-funded, and #58 is listed as open. Register through the event page anyway: it smooths the door, and the series has been filling rooms of 150–250 lately.

Worth knowing

  • Thursday Gathering #59 has a confirmed theme: E-Commerce, Product Design & AI. Our registration for it landed on 7 June via GatherUs, date still TBC — likely late June. If that combination is your patch, watch the listings.
  • Berlin Robotics x AI Hackathon remains date-TBC. Our 31 May registration is still confirmed, the calendar slot still isn't. Builders, keep that flexible weekend flexible.
  • The week of 22 June looks quieter in our pipeline — a few good community fixtures rather than headline conferences. Plan your big-swing networking for this week, not next.
