The Big One: Thursday Gathering #67

Thursday Gathering #67 runs Thursday 20 August from 19:00 at Venture Café Berlin, inside CIC Berlin. Free, as always. This is the flagship weekly gathering that carries the Berlin scene through the flat stretches — a genuinely mixed room of founders, builders and investors, no ticket, no gatekeeping, just show up and talk to people.

In a week this quiet, its reliability is the whole point. Other formats take the summer off; the Thursday Gathering keeps its rhythm. If you only have one evening to spend this week, this is the one — the international crowd, the low barrier to entry and the sheer consistency make it the anchor that a deep-August week needs.

What to expect if you have never been: doors from 19:00, a name badge, and a room that skews English-speaking and international — Berlin's real lingua franca at these things. There is usually a light programme of short talks or a theme, but nobody minds if you are only there for the hallway conversations. Come with a rough idea of who you want to meet and you will leave having met three of them.

Who should go where

Worth knowing your host for Thursday. CIC Berlin — the Cambridge Innovation Center's Berlin outpost, home to Venture Café — sits on Charlottenstraße in Mitte, an easy walk from Stadtmitte and Französische Straße on the U-Bahn.
