Berlin tech events this week: the small rooms win (19–25 June)

Berlin has spent three weeks at full volume — the SuperReturn capital crush, then DevOpsCon, then GreenTech Festival taking over Station Berlin. This week the city turns the amps down. There are no paid headliners in the tech events in Berlin between 19 and 25 June, and that is exactly why this is a week worth showing up for: the rooms left standing are the small, free, founder-built ones where the scene actually gets made rather than performed.

Last week, briefly

GreenTech Festival filled Station Berlin in Kreuzberg with three days of climate founders, corporate sustainability budgets and investors; PITS ran its public-sector security congress at the Adlon; DevOpsCon held court at the Maritim proArte; and Thursday Gathering #58 closed it all out, free, at Venture Café. What that means for this week: a lot of fresh contacts and not much time to act on them. The big stages have gone dark, which clears your evenings for the one thing conferences never give you — the unhurried second conversation. This week's calendar is built for precisely that.

The week's anchor: Silicon Allee Deep Tech Night

⭐ Featured. Silicon Allee Deep Tech Night — Tue 23 June, 20:00, Silicon Allee Venture Lab @ Fraunhofer HHI, free.

In a week with no conference to hide behind, this is the room to be in. Deep Tech Night is Silicon Allee's flagship showcase for some of Germany's most promising deep tech startups, hosted inside the Fraunhofer HHI Venture Lab — which is to say, in a building where the science and the capital genuinely sit in the same room. Each edition puts founders on stage in front of investors who came to listen, not to be sold to. It's free, it's curated, and at 20:00 on a Tuesday it has the whole week to itself. If you only do one thing in Berlin this week, this is it — and unusually for a banger, it costs you nothing.

Who should go where

The week is thin enough that the honest move is to organise it by who you are, not by what day it is. Here's where each crowd should spend its evenings.

Builders — your week is the weekend. Berlin Robotics x AI Hackathon runs Sat 20–Sun 21 June, two full days (roughly 10:00–17:30 each), paid, at a venue announced after registration. We flagged this one as date-TBC for weeks; it has now landed firmly on the weekend.

It sits at the intersection of robotics and agentic AI — hands-on team building, demos and a weekend of actually shipping rather than talking about shipping. If you write code and you've been waiting all month for something to make, clear the weekend.

Founders & investors — Tuesday and Thursday. Deep Tech Night (above) is the obvious pairing: founders pitch, investors listen, free. Then close the week at Thursday Gathering #59 — E-Commerce, Product Design & AI, Thu 25 June, 19:00, Venture Café Berlin / CIC, free. The weekly fixture finally has its theme confirmed (we'd been tracking it as TBC since early June) — and the e-commerce / product-design / AI combination is a sharper magnet than the usual open-floor evening. 150–250 people, the most reliable room in the city.

Anyone who networks better over coffee than cocktails. betabreakfast — Thu 25 June, 12:00, betahaus | Kreuzberg, free. betahaus's long-running community breakfast: informal, low-pressure, founders and freelancers and the merely curious. If the pitch-night format gives you hives, this is your entry point into the same network at half the intensity.

Recruiters and the job-curious. WomenHack Berlin — Thu 25 June, 20:30, Lightspeed, free. A fast-paced recruiting and networking evening connecting women and non-binary technologists with companies hiring across engineering, product, data and design. It runs late and it's free; if you're hiring technical talent this quarter, it's a more efficient hour than any job board.

Venue corner: the Fraunhofer HHI Venture Lab

Worth a note because it anchors the week. The Silicon Allee Venture Lab sits inside Fraunhofer HHI in Charlottenburg — the institute that helped invent the technology behind MP3 and a chunk of modern video compression. That heritage is the whole point of putting a deep tech showcase there: it's a venue where applied research and startup ambition share a postcode. Practical notes — it's a working research campus, so registration through the event page matters for getting past the door, and it's well out west, so factor the S-Bahn time if you're coming from Kreuzberg or Mitte. Pair it with a Tuesday that's otherwise clear and you've got the cleanest deep tech evening of the month.

Worth knowing

• Thursday 25 June is the busy night — three free events, one evening. betabreakfast at noon, then Thursday Gathering #59 at 19:00 and WomenHack at 20:30. The two evening events run back-to-back and a few minutes apart by U-Bahn, so an ambitious Thursday could reasonably do both. Pace yourself.
• Thursday Gathering #59's theme is now confirmed. Our registration for it came through GatherUs on 7 June with the slot still open; it's since locked to E-Commerce, Product Design & AI for the 25th. If that's your patch, this is the edition to make.
• The Berlin Robotics x AI Hackathon date is finally pinned. We'd been carrying it as "confirmed registration, date TBC" since 31 May. It's now firmly Sat 20–Sun 21 June — the venue is still revealed only after you register, which is normal for this format, not a red flag.
• Looking ahead: the calendar reawakens at the end of the month. A Korea×Berlin innovation evening lands 29 June and GITEX AI Europe opens 30 June — so this quiet week is the lull before the next surge, not a trend. Use it to catch up, not to coast.
