Dublin tech events this week: the SEO room, the speed round, and a mixer that lies about the day (17–23 Jul 2026)
Dublin tech events 17–23 July: SearchIRL #6 at dentsu, speed networking at The Jar, and why the 'Friday Mixer' at Madigans is actually on Saturday.
Dublin tech events this week: the SEO room, the speed round, and a mixer that lies about the day (17–23 Jul 2026)
The Dublin Tech Social — Friday Mixer is on Saturday. Saturday the 18th, 7:30pm, Madigans on Leeson Street, free. It was on a Saturday last week too, under the same Friday name, which means the name is now less a schedule and more a family heirloom. We flag it every week because it is the single most reliable way to get Dublin tech events wrong: you read "Friday", you go on Friday, you drink alone. It's a good night — free, no agenda, no speakers, just the city's tech crowd doing what it does. Go on Saturday.
With that out of the way: this is a four-event week, and it's better than four events sounds. Two of them are the kind of specific, well-run rooms that a general mixer can't fake.
Who should go where
Sales, marketing and anyone who owns a funnel: Thursday. SearchIRL #6 at dentsu Ireland is the week's most useful ninety minutes and it's free — more on it below. This is your event; there isn't a close second.
Founders and early-career operators: Wednesday, and you have a choice half an hour apart in the same postcode. Speed Networking for Young Professionals & Entrepreneurs at The Jar on Wexford Street (7:30pm, €15) is structured — you meet everyone, whether or not you're the type who works a room. Tech and Business Networking | Elevating Your Potential at Old Fashioned Sam's (7pm, free) is the unstructured version: software engineers, data analysts, consultants, founders, no format. Pay the €15 if you want guaranteed conversations; go free if you'd rather pick your own.
Builders and engineers: thin week, and we'll say so plainly. Last week had AI Tinkerers at Fin HQ pulling apart the mechanics of LLMs; this week has nothing technical at all. Take Saturday at Madigans as a low-effort way to stay connected, and keep your evenings for August.
Investors: no dealflow room this week. The Wednesday speed-networking session at The Jar skews young and early — which is either exactly what you want or exactly what you don't. Your real date is SaaStock, 6–8 October.
The Big One: SearchIRL #6 at dentsu
Thursday 23 July, 7pm — dentsu Ireland — free
SearchIRL #6 — SEO Meetup is Dublin's only dedicated SEO meetup, and that's not a marketing line — it's just the state of the calendar. Search is one of the biggest revenue channels in the Irish economy and it gets one room, four times a year. This is the sixth edition, it runs quarterly, it's sponsored by Screaming Frog, and it's hosted at dentsu Ireland's offices, which tells you the agency side turns out properly rather than sending an intern.

Quarterly is the part to internalise. Miss Thursday and the next one is months out, by which point whatever's currently rearranging search results will have rearranged them again. If you do SEO, content, or growth in Dublin — in-house or agency — this is the room where the people who actually do it are standing. Free, sixth edition, still going: that's a series with a real community under it, not a launch.

Dublin's scene is small enough that turning up twice makes you a regular. A few things worth knowing before Wednesday or Thursday:
Free doesn't mean walk-in. SearchIRL is at a company office — dentsu needs to know you're coming for the door and the desk downstairs. Register.
Nobody arrives at the start time. For the pub events, 7:30pm means the room fills between 7:45 and 8:15. Arriving dead on time at Madigans means standing next to an empty bar, which is a strange way to begin.
Pub events are actually the easy ones. Madigans and Old Fashioned Sam's have no badges, no rounds, no format — you buy a drink and talk to whoever's nearest. If a structured event sounds like a job interview, start there. And yes, bring a colleague; nobody is checking a list.
Worth knowing
The Jar sells out. The listing for Wednesday's speed networking is already carrying a sold-out signal — a genuine demand indicator for a €15 evening. Our availability data still shows it open, but we'd treat that as the slower of two sources. Book it now rather than deciding on the day.

Last night's specialist room. The Sportstech Sessions ran at O'Reilly's by Tara Street on Thursday — sport meets tech, no panels, no pitches. We registered and our tickets came through without a hitch, which is worth knowing for next time: it's a genuinely open door, not a screened one. Sports D3c0d3d don't run these often. Keep an eye out.
Do I need to book any of this?
Book SearchIRL (office venue, free but registered) and book The Jar (€15, sells out). Madigans and Old Fashioned Sam's you can walk into.
Is the Friday Mixer really on Saturday?
Yes. Saturday 18 July, 7:30pm, Madigans Leeson Street. The 11 July edition was a Saturday as well. Trust the date on the listing, not the name.
That's Dublin for 17–23 July: one specialist room worth clearing Thursday for, one Wednesday worth booking, and a mixer worth reading twice. Everything's at anopenroom.com/dublin. Running something we've missed? Send it — a four-event week usually means we haven't found the fifth yet.
