London tech events this week: after Tech Week, the craft week (12–18 June)

Tech Week winds down, #mtpcon takes the Barbican, and six events stack up on Tuesday.

Tech Week's lanyards are coming off, and what's left is a quietly excellent week of tech events in London for people who build things — a fringe unconference today, Europe's flagship product conference at the Barbican, and a Tuesday evening with more good options than you have evenings. Less spectacle, more craft. Arguably the better week.

Last week, briefly: London Tech Week

The main event ran Monday to Wednesday at Olympia, with the fringe carrying the city through to today. Two fringe highlights from our own diary: Future Worlds Demo Day filled Ministry of Sound on Tuesday with university deep-tech spinouts and an investor after-party, and Wednesday's King's Informatics Industry Showcase at Bush House delivered exactly what it promised — we were in the room, and King's Department of Informatics is now actively recruiting industry partners for its Safe and Trusted AI doctoral centre. If you're an AI company that wants research talent on tap, that door is open. What it means for this week: Tech Week isn't quite done — its last fringe event is today.

The Big One: #mtpcon London 2026

#mtpcon — The Product Conference ★ featured — Tuesday 16 June, Barbican Centre, £895. Mind the Product brings 1,200+ product managers and leaders to the Barbican for the product event of the year. If you build, lead or live products, this is your tribe's annual gathering — and the hallway track is as valuable as the keynotes. Senior leaders should look a day earlier: the Leadership Forum (Monday 15, Barbican Conservatory, £995) is a deliberately small gathering of 120 directors, VPs, CPOs and founders. Steep tickets, yes — but this is the one conference where product people consistently tell us the price paid for itself.

The week ahead, by theme

Tech Week's last word. AI for the Rest of Us — Tech Week Fringe Unconference — today, Friday 12, from 10:00, free, central London (venue on registration). Billed to members as Agent Craft, it's a one-day, attendee-led event on AI agents that replaces the group's usual June meetup. Unconference format means the agenda is whoever shows up — which, this week of all weeks, should be good.

The vertical conference row. Tuesday and Wednesday belong to deep verticals: Critical Communications World (Tuesday 16, ExCeL, free — three days of mission-critical comms programming, and genuinely free to attend), TINtech London Market (Tuesday 16, Convene 155 Bishopsgate, £399) for insurance-market data and AI people, MOVE 2026 (Wednesday 17, ExCeL, paid) for mobility and auto-tech, and LegalTechTalk ★ featured (Wednesday 17, InterContinental at The O2, £1,495) — 5,500+ attendees making it Europe's legaltech fixture. None of these are general networking events; all of them are the place to be if the vertical is yours.

Tuesday night, pick one. Three free-to-cheap evening options stack up on the 16th: Mindstone's June AI Meetup ★ featured (19:30, free, venue announced to RSVPs) — London's biggest practical AI meetup, operator-level talks and demos; the Newspeak House book club (19:30, free) discussing Eric Ries' new book Incorruptible; and the Private Equity Networking Drinks (19:00, Davy's at St James', £15) in the wine cellars with the PE and tech-investment crowd. Six events in total land on Tuesday — the busiest day of the week by a distance.

Who should go where

Founders — a light week for pitch stages after last week's glut. Agent Craft today if AI agents touch your product; Tuesday's PE drinks if your next raise has growth-equity shape; otherwise Mindstone for the highest founder density per free ticket.

Investors — no demo days this week. The PE drinks on Tuesday is your room; TINtech and LegalTechTalk are worth a day pass if insurtech or legaltech is in your thesis.

Builders — Agent Craft today, Mindstone Tuesday, and Critical Communications World is a free pass to a genuinely technical exhibition floor. Strong week, all of it cheap.

Product people — clear your Tuesday. #mtpcon is the calendar event of your year; everything else can wait.

Sales & marketing — vertical week. If you sell into legal, insurance or mobility, your buyers are at LegalTechTalk, TINtech and MOVE respectively. If you don't, take the breather.

FAQ corner

Is London Tech Week still on?

The Olympia exhibition closed Wednesday 10 June, but the fringe officially runs to today, Friday 12 June — and today's Agent Craft unconference is its closing act. After that, Tech Week 2026 is done.

Are the free events this week really free?

Yes — Agent Craft, Mindstone, the Newspeak House book club and even Critical Communications World's three days at ExCeL are all free to attend. The catch is registration, not money: Mindstone and Agent Craft confirm their venues by email after you RSVP, so register first and watch your inbox.

Worth knowing

  • Master The Vibe is now confirmed for Tuesday 7 July (originally 11 June; venue availability, per organiser Federica Leonino's Meetup message). Update your calendar if you'd saved the old date.
  • Mindstone has been experimenting with AI-powered attendee matching — at its Manchester meetup in May, registrants got a unique link to build a networking profile, and the link expired within roughly 24 hours of sending. If Tuesday's London edition does the same, act on that email fast.
  • The week of 29 June looks genuinely quiet — our research sweep found the post-Tech-Week summer lull is real. If you're rationing evenings, spend them this week and next, not then.
