London tech events this week: the climate week and a Friday import from SF (19–25 June)

Two weeks ago you couldn't get a table in this city. London Tech Week packed Olympia, the fringe spilled into every co-working space with a spare room, and the calendar of tech events in London read like a wall of lanyards. This week is the opposite, and that's the point: the spectacle has moved on, the diaries have cleared, and what's left is a handful of rooms where you can actually hear the person across the table. One of them flew in from San Francisco.

A Friday worth staying in town for

Most Fridays in late June, the smart move is to leave early. Not this one. Bringing SF to London — tonight, Friday 19 June, 19:00, central London (exact venue on registration), free — is the London leg of a builder night that drew 350 people on its Berlin debut. The format is deliberately un-conferency: up to 15 rapid-fire product demos from people who are actually shipping, plus food, drinks and a room engineered for the kind of "what are you building?" conversation that the Tech Week crowds made impossible. It's organised by Marie Scherf, who runs in the Project A VC orbit, so the investor density should punch above a free ticket's weight.

If a Friday demo night isn't your speed, the city's long-running standby is on the same evening: Tech Startups in the Pub (The Windmill, 19:00, free) runs its third-Friday, no-hard-sell drinks for founders, teams and investors. Two very different Fridays, both free, both worth the train fare home being slightly later.

Theme of the week: London Climate Action Week takes over Tuesday

If last fortnight belonged to AI, this week belongs to the climate. London Climate Action Week lands mid-week and brings the largest gathering on the calendar with it. Three talks, a real room, no exhibition-hall sprawl. Pair the two: Reset Connect for the landscape, Climate Innovation for the people.

The Big One: AI World Congress 2026

The week's heaviest single ticket isn't climate — it's AI World Congress 2026 ★ featured — Tuesday 23 June, 10:00, The Great Hall, Kensington Conference & Events Centre, £495. It's a senior-level, two-day congress on real-world, scalable AI across finance, healthcare and manufacturing — keynotes and panels pitched at the people signing off AI budgets rather than the people writing the prompts. After a Tech Week that was long on hype and short on deployment stories, a paid, senior room built around what's actually shipping in regulated industries is a useful corrective. If you sell AI into the enterprise, this is where your buyers are this week — and it's the same day as Reset Connect, so pick your lane early.

Hidden gem: founders pitching at Stripe to close the week

Travel & Hospitality Tech Startup Founder Innovation Pitch at Stripe ★ featured — Thursday 25 June, 18:30, Stripe at 201 Bishopsgate, free. We flagged this because it's the rare free pitch night with a genuinely good room behind it: hosted at Stripe in partnership with Travel Massive, traveltech and hospitality founders pitch live to a VC panel and an audience vote, with active investors in the seats. Vertical-specific, yes — but the format (live pitches, real VCs, a free ticket inside Stripe's offices) is exactly the kind of high-signal evening the post-Tech-Week lull is supposed not to have. James got the registration confirmation through directly; it's real and it's filling.

Who should go where

Founders — your week is bookended. Friday's Bringing SF to London for the highest builder-and-investor density of any free ticket this week; Thursday's Stripe pitch night if you're in travel or hospitality, or just want to watch live pitching done well. If you're raising in climate, Wednesday's Climate Innovation is the warmer room than the 8,000-person hall.

Investors — no demo day this week, but Friday's SF night is where the early builders are, and Thursday's Stripe pitch puts a curated set of traveltech founders in front of a panel. If your thesis is climate, Reset Connect is the obvious sweep; if it's enterprise AI, the AI World Congress is your two days.

Builders — quieter week for hands-on technical content after Tech Week emptied the meetup calendar. Bringing SF to London on Friday is your best builder room; otherwise, treat this as a breather and save your evenings for the demos.

• Bringing SF to London shares the calendar with a Project A connection. The organiser, Marie Scherf, has been publicly building toward a London event with VC Project A for the 19th — so expect the investor mix to be real, not nominal.
