About this event
Paul Syverson, inventor of onion routing and a mathematician at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory for almost four decades, gives an introductory but rigorous hour on how Tor and onion services actually work. The lecture walks through adversary and trust models with concrete examples, making clear what these technologies protect and what they do not. It closes on SAMI, a technology extending the self-authenticating properties of onion services to ordinary web addresses and to AT Protocol handles such as those used by Bluesky. Part of Sapienza's Computer Science Distinguished Lectures: free entry, delivered in English.
