Tech events in Amsterdam this week: pay for the days, turn up free at night

21 tech events in Amsterdam, 30 Oct-5 Nov: SREday at ING Cedar, Meet Magento, Forward Summit, and a free evening every single night.

The clocks went back on Sunday, it is dark by six, and the Amsterdam tech events calendar has reorganised itself around that fact. Daytime belongs to conferences: four ticketed days between Monday and Thursday, three at full conference prices. Evenings belong to habits - fourteen of this week's twenty-one listings cost nothing to register for, and something is on every night from Friday through Thursday.

Where the money goes: Monday to Thursday

The ticketed days are decisions - you book ahead, clear the diary, get the invoice signed off - so get them right and the free evenings look after themselves. The week's anchor is SREday Amsterdam 2026 Q4 on Monday 2 November, in ING's Cedar building out in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Four parallel tracks of site-reliability and observability talks, all day. It is paid, with no published figure, so check the ticket page before planning around it. What earns it a cleared Monday is the audience rather than the agenda: SREday pulls the people who actually carry pagers at Dutch banks, logistics platforms and scale-ups - a different room entirely from the AI-adoption circuit the rest of the week serves. If you are an engineer wondering whether your observability stack is normal or quietly terrible, this is the cheapest benchmarking exercise going. If you sell infrastructure tooling into the Netherlands, the buyers are in the corridor, not the keynote.

The rest of the paid calendar:

  • Connected Commerce Summit Amsterdam 2026 - Tuesday 3 November, Hotel Jakarta on Java-eiland. Paid, no price published. Built around what Benelux FMCG brands need from digital commerce.
  • The Amsterdam AI Summit 2026 - Wednesday 4 November, 19:00, Zuiderkerk, EUR 34.99. Where AI adoption actually stands in Dutch companies, around 500 business and technology leaders in a church.
  • Meet Magento Netherlands 2026 - Thursday 5 November, LIEF Amsterdam, EUR 200. The Dutch edition of the global Magento and Adobe Commerce gathering, and the fixed point of the Dutch e-commerce year.
  • Forward Summit 2026 - Thursday 5 November, World Trade Center on Strawinskylaan, EUR 210. Two days for founders chasing partnerships, investment and distribution.
  • DDMA Experimentation Heroes - Thursday 5 November, 13:30, Hotel Casa on Eerste Ringdijkstraat, EUR 164.79. Dutch digital teams presenting the tests that worked and the ones that did not.

Free networking events in Amsterdam this week

Friday opens with Monthly Tech Drinks & Pitching - TAG edition at TAG, 19:00, free: drinks and short pitches from the floor. Saturday is Coffee Coding at The Coffee Room on Ferdinand Bolstraat, 10:30 - Appsterdam's standing co-working hour, no programme. Sunday splits between Uncommon Ground at the 001 Commandantswoning on Marineterrein, 11:00, and 3D Sunday at TechInc in the ACTA building at 14:00, laser cutter and CNC router running.

Midweek they get sharper. What Is AI Doing to the PM Role? - Tuesday 3 November, 18:30, Picnic HQ - is Women in Product NL asking it both ways: what the tooling changes, and which parts of the job it leaves entirely alone.

Same day, The New Frontier: Human-Centric AI in the Future of Finance and Payments runs all day at AI House from 10:30 - the European Women Payments Network's annual conference, free to register. Wednesday brings the Kotlin Meetup on contract-based testing at Xebia, 18:30, two talks on contracts from opposite ends, the integration kind and the compiler kind.

Thursday 5 November is the pile-up: seven events in one day. The free end of it is AI at Sciencepark at LAB42, 17:00, with Amsterdam animator Hisko Hulsing on what AI is doing to animation and who owns the output; Forward Deployed: with Wonderful at Keizersgracht 127, 18:00, on embedding engineers inside customers instead of shipping one-size-fits-all SaaS; and Satoshi Radio Meetup Amsterdam at Cafe de Roemer, 19:00, in Dutch.

By the numbers

Twenty-one events. Fourteen free to register, seven ticketed. Busiest day: Thursday 5 November, with seven. Quietest: Monday, which has SREday and nothing else - convenient, since SREday eats the whole day.

Who should go where

Builders, you have the best week. SREday Monday if you operate anything in production; the Kotlin meetup Wednesday if you write JVM code and have views on where contracts belong; the Mage-OS Pre-MMNL Hackathon at Bold Commerce on Wednesday from 11:00 if you would rather fix the platform than hear about it. Skip the AI-adoption panels - the calendar is too good to spend an evening being told AI is important.

Product and design, Tuesday is yours twice over: Picnic HQ at 18:30, AI House from 10:30. Thursday's Sciencepark hour has a practitioner on stage rather than a vendor.

Founders, your week is ticketed. Forward Summit and the Amsterdam AI Summit hold the commercial conversations and both cost money. On nil budget, Friday's Tech Drinks at TAG gets you pitching to a room for free, and Thursday's Amsterdam Startup Meetup at Mulligans is EUR 12.10 with no pitches from the stage.

Sales and marketing, Connected Commerce on Tuesday and DDMA on Thursday are the rooms where Dutch buyers turn up on purpose. The rest of the week is engineers.

A note if this is your first one

Free in Amsterdam means free to register, not walk-in, and daytime events close their lists early. Doors usually open before the stated time and the talking starts after it; on the hour is fine, twenty minutes late is normal. Bring a colleague unless the listing says otherwise.

Worth knowing

Two corrections from last week, both worth carrying forward.

The Go To Market Event at B. Amsterdam on Wednesday 28 October was full, with a waitlist, while our own availability field still read as open. That is our data, not the organiser's. The lesson generalises: free Amsterdam daytime events run by accelerators fill four or five days out, so treat "available" on a free daytime listing as a hint rather than a promise.

Finder: Meet Your Co-founder on Thursday 29 October was corrected twice. The organiser is the HvA Venture Centre at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam, not the body we first listed, and the venue is the Kohnstammhuis at Wibautstraat 2-4, 1091 GM. The matching questionnaire closed on 26 October, so it ran registered-only.

Two start times disagree with their organisers: our rows open SREday at 10:30 and Connected Commerce at 09:00, while both publish earlier doors. Plan on the earlier.

Our price field also defaults to free when an organiser publishes nothing, so some free labels this week are unconfirmed rather than wrong. SREday and Connected Commerce read paid with no figure, and we are not estimating one.

That is nineteen of twenty-one, including the Amsterdam PM Bijeenkomst at Mintlab on Tuesday. The two left are Wednesday 20:00 regulars - Appsterdam's drinks at Cafe Bax and the TechInc social evening - and both sit on the full Amsterdam listings. Travelling? Berlin's week has Nullcon running five days from Monday. Missed something on your street? Send it over - the listings get better because people tell us what is on.
