Berlin tech events this week: one conference bends the whole calendar (16-22 October 2026)

Seven of the 22 tech events on our Berlin city page this week exist because NVIDIA is in town: workshops timed around GTC, a hackathon ahead of it, a robotics afternoon, a rooftop for the GPU crowd on opening night, a founder morning co-hosted with it, a watch party for the keynote. Sixteen of the 22 are free, the usual Berlin ratio. So we have sorted the networking events in Berlin this week by distance from one building - inside the badge, in orbit, carrying on regardless.

The big one: EUR 357, or the same keynote for nothing

Tue 20 Oct, 09:00 - NVIDIA GTC Berlin 2026, STATION-Berlin, EUR 357.

Three days: a workshop day at STATION-Berlin, then the keynote at the Tempodrom and more than 100 sessions on AI infrastructure and accelerated computing. The only featured paid room in the city this week, and the reason half of this calendar looks the way it does. If you build or buy infrastructure, EUR 357 is not the expensive part of your week.

If nobody is paying for your badge, go on Wednesday instead. Startup Grind Berlin x NVIDIA GTC: Jensen Huang Keynote Watch Party runs at 10:30 at NLND Neuland Berlin, free, cinema setting, around sixty curated founders, developers and investors from AI and deep tech. The keynote plus a room of sixty rather than a hall of thousands. "Curated" means you register and they choose, so do it early.

Inside a badge: the paid week

Neulandpro Connect 2026 opens Friday at 09:00 at the WECC on Westhafen, EUR 298.77: two days, 20-plus speakers, 30-plus workshops, headlined by Sascha Lobo, in German. GenAI Berlin 2026 starts the same morning at 10:30 at Humboldt Carre in Mitte, two days aimed at people shipping rather than theorising. Friday 18:00, the Entrepreneurship Summit 2026 in Berlin opens at the Henry-Ford-Bau on Freie Universitaet's Dahlem campus, in German, under Stiftung Entrepreneurship's "entrepreneurship for everyone" banner. SAB 2026 runs from Monday 09:00 across two Berlin venues: an 18th edition on how adaptive behaviour arises in animals and machines. Those last three are paid with no figure in our data, so we print none.

In GTC's orbit, and free

Nebius Workshops on AI Inference, Physical AI & Post-Training runs Friday from 10:00 at the DRIVE. Volkswagen Group Forum: tracks on serving inference at production scale, physical AI and post-training. Saturday 16:00, NVIDIA's Build-A-Claw: Berlin has small groups assembling and programming a robotic claw, then making its life difficult. Sunday from 09:00, the Nebius Build Week Hackathon with NVIDIA gives teams compute, model access and mentoring for twelve hours. Tuesday 17:30, Rooftop Cocktails & Compute by Hyperbolic is the GPU and inference crowd on GTC's opening night - no talks, no demos. Wednesday 08:30, Building at the Frontier of AI is a founder morning at the AI Campus with NVIDIA on what physical AI demands. All free; three release the address on registration.

The week that is carrying on regardless

Saturday from 10:00, the Berlin | Claude Code Impact Lab at Taxfix in Mitte is a free full-day build: mixed teams take one real problem end to end with coding agents. Monday brings two more - BIFOLD Event: Agentic AI for Earth Observation at 12:00, three days with the European Space Agency on models that plan their own analysis across satellite archives, and the Agentic Hackathon: From Research to Commerce at 14:00 at The Delta Campus in Neukoelln, on the gap between a technique that works in a paper and one that sells.

Tuesday 15:30, the AI NATION Demo Day - Batch Spring 2026 closes an accelerator cohort at the Forum Digitale Technologien, free. At 18:00 the UNCONFERENCE: Engineering AI Together #11 at Merantix AI Campus lets the room vote the agenda. Wednesday 09:00, BEADS Summit 2026 puts invited talks from the international data management community in front of BIFOLD's engineers at TU Berlin - free, and the best-value technical day of the week. Thursday: Shaping Inclusive AI for Ageing Societies at 09:00 at the WZB, two days on who these systems leave out; Thursday Gathering #75 - DisruptHR Berlin 3.0 at 17:00; and How will AI change the world beyond software? at 18:30 at Civey, whose format asks something of everyone in the room.

Last week, briefly

We said a week early that MeasureCamp Berlin would gate, and it did - Saturday ran on a waitlist. Thursday Gathering #74 gave its main slot to an advanced-materials competition; #75 is the same room at the same hour this week, free, with DisruptHR Berlin 3.0 in the slot.

Venue corner: CIC Berlin

Two of this week's rooms sit in the same Treptow building: Tuesday's AI Builders meetup at Aethos inside CIC Berlin - Lohmuehlenstrasse 65, 12435 Berlin - and Thursday Gathering #75 two days later. If you are new here, that is the cheapest way to turn up twice in one week and be recognised the second time.

Who should go where

Investors first. Angels & Beers on Wednesday at 19:00 is investors only and no pitches, run by Startups.Berlin with Start-Up Investment Accelerator and Leapfunder; the address comes with the registration. Pair it with Tuesday's demo day for dealflow and Wednesday's watch party for the GTC crowd. Skip the GTC badge itself - an infrastructure buyer's ticket, not a sourcing one.

Founders. Wednesday 08:30 at the AI Campus if you build hardware or physical AI, Thursday Gathering #75 for the broad room. Tuesday's rooftop beats any panel this week and costs nothing.

Builders. Friday's Nebius workshops or Sunday's hackathon, BEADS on Wednesday if you run data systems, the Merantix unconference on Tuesday if you would rather argue. Saturday's Claude Code lab is the one day you leave with something that runs. Leave the unpriced conferences to whoever is expensing them.

People and hiring. DisruptHR on Thursday - the only room this week that is not about models.

Worth knowing

  • AI Builders Berlin - October is not free. Our row said it was; the organiser's page makes it pay-what-you-can on a flexible band between seven and fourteen euros, so there is no single figure to print. Registration has moved to luma.com/berlin-oct20 - the old link carried a Dutch locale path on a Berlin event. Venue: Aethos at CIC Berlin, Lohmuehlenstrasse 65, 12435 Berlin. Speakers, new to our listing this week: Nicolai Bohn, Gesa Schneider, Mykola Penkovskyi. Tuesday 17:30, short demos rather than keynotes.
  • Five rows publish no venue: Build-A-Claw, the Nebius hackathon, SAB 2026, the BIFOLD Earth-observation workshop and Angels & Beers. Deliberate in every case - the address arrives with the registration, which is increasingly how good Berlin rooms work.
  • Three paid conferences name no price: GenAI Berlin, the Entrepreneurship Summit, SAB 2026. And where an organiser publishes nothing, our row can default to free - so a free label is worth one check.
  • Two events run in German: Neulandpro Connect and the Entrepreneurship Summit. The other twenty are in English - which is part of why GTC week landed here.

Tell us what we are missing

Twenty-two rooms, seven of them because one company booked a venue. A good week, and a lopsided one. If you run a meetup, a workshop or a demo night missing from our Berlin listings, send it over; what arrives this week shapes next Friday's post.
