Bristol tech events this week: fourteen picks, and a Tuesday traffic jam

Fourteen Bristol tech events, 30 Oct-5 Nov 2026.

Tuesday night is the week's only real problem. Four of Bristol's fourteen tech events land inside half an hour of each other on Tue 3 Nov, two of them in rooms worth a whole evening. The rest spaces out politely: a Friday lunchtime talk, a Monday mixer, a Wednesday of people policy and clean energy, a Thursday that ends in a robotics lab. Fourteen is a solid week for Bristol networking events, and most are rooms where you bring something rather than watch. So the picks are grouped by what the room is for.

Rooms where you work

Hack Night — Tue 3 Nov, 18:15, DeskLodge House, free to register. Details
CodeHub Bristol's fortnightly social coding evening. Bring a side project.

Make Shift - Come Unstuck Sessions — Tue 3 Nov, 18:00, Pervasive Media Studio, free to register. Details
A structured peer-support meetup for 18-30ish creatives building a practice.

Grow Your Sales: Unlock Your Data — Thu 5 Nov, 10:00, NatWest Entrepreneur Accelerator, free to register. Details
Two hours on getting a CRM working properly: what to track, how to organise leads. Stay in the building for Pitch Club at 13:30 the same day, an hour of pitch practice at the NatWest Accelerator, also free to register.

Rooms where you watch

Lunchtime Talk: Imagining Future Neighbourhoods Through Immersive Tech — Fri 30 Oct, 13:00, Pervasive Media Studio, free to register. Details
Jessica Warren (Hoffmann) on a Bristol City Council collaboration using arts, culture and immersive tech for neighbourhood visioning in South Bristol. Civic tech that involved residents rather than surveying them.

The Plugin Your Website Is Missing — Tue 3 Nov, 18:30, Temple Studios, free to register. Details
Ben Seiler on why fast, polished WordPress sites still fail to convert, and why the fix is positioning rather than the plugin stack.

People & Culture in an AI Age — Wed 4 Nov, 09:00, Engine Shed, free to register. Details
Bristol AI Shed on what AI changes about leading people: how roles evolve, how to build confidence not anxiety.

Generation 2050 - The Future of Clean Energy in the West of England — Wed 4 Nov, 17:00, UWE Frenchay Campus - Z Block (School of Engineering), free to register. Details
A panel on turning green investment into local jobs and energy security. Frenchay, so plan the bus out.

At the Crossroads: People, Robotics and the Future of Accessibility — Thu 5 Nov, 18:00, Bristol Robotics Laboratory, UWE Bristol, free to register. Details

A panel with live demonstrations, researchers to talk to and a lab tour, on how robotics and assistive tech could make daily life more accessible. The tour is the reason to go.

Rooms where you meet

Networking for founders, creators, freelancers + rebels — Mon 2 Nov, 18:00, The Square Club, free to register. Details
Rebel Meetups' monthly gathering, running since 2013 and now partnered with techSPARK. The most forgiving room in the city for a first event.

She Scales: Women Founder Networking — Wed 4 Nov, 10:00, NatWest Accelerator, free to register. Details
The monthly morning for female founders and leaders. A wellbeing workshop this edition, not a business clinic.

Hidden gem: an hour with a propulsion lab

Digital Engineering with IAAPs accelerator- Innovation Forum — Thu 5 Nov, 12:00, Future Space, free to register. Details

IAAPS is the University of Bath's propulsion and automotive research centre, and this is an hour on simulation and system modelling: testing an idea before you build the hardware. It will draw the smallest crowd of the fourteen. Anyone building something physical in the South West should know who IAAPS are, and a lunch hour at Future Space beats a partnership conversation six months from now.

Who should go where

Founders, be selfish about Tuesday. Tech-Xpo is the pick (see below). If you are pre-pitch rather than pitching, Pitch Club on Thursday does more for you than another mixer.

Builders, Tuesday is yours and it hurts. Hack Night at 18:15, the WordPress talk at 18:30 and Tech-Xpo at 18:00 are all on and all walkable. Hack Night if you want to ship something, Tech-Xpo if you want to know what the city is building.

Investors, one evening. Tech-Xpo is where Bristol dealflow congregates this week: ten pitching, eight exhibiting. Skip the rest and keep Friday 6 November free.

Sales and marketing, go narrow. The Plugin Your Website Is Missing is a positioning talk wearing a WordPress hat. The generic mixers can wait a week.

The Big One: SETsquared Tech-Xpo 2026

SETsquared Tech-Xpo 2026 — Tue 3 Nov, 18:00, Sloane Robinson Building, free to register. Details and registration

<img src="https://joezfbehxxpcrpliygvo.supabase.co/storage/v1/object/public/hero-images/event-bristol-setsquared-tech-xpo-2026-1103.webp" alt="SETsquared Tech-Xpo 2026 startup showcase at the Sloane Robinson Building Bristol" class="w-full rounded-lg my-6" loading="lazy" />

Ten SETsquared Bristol startups pitch live for a Best Elevator Pitch award voted on by the audience, with eight more exhibiting around the room. Eighteen companies in one evening, and you get a vote.

It earns top billing for what it compresses. A pitch competition the room votes on reads a city's pipeline better than any panel: ten founders explaining themselves to people under no obligation to be kind. The exhibitors matter as much as the stage, eight tables of founders who will talk for twenty minutes rather than ninety seconds. If you back companies, hire for them or sell to them, go.

Things the listings do not tell you

All fourteen events this week read as free to register, which is partly true and partly an artefact. Our price column defaults to free when an organiser publishes nothing, so a few badges are unconfirmed rather than earned. Check the organiser page before you plan around one.

The Electra Female Founder Dinner on 10 November is sold out, and the organiser's own copy contradicts the date it is listed under. We are not guessing which version is right. If you hold a ticket, confirm the date with Electra.

Housekeeping: across this fortnight's Bristol rows the NatWest Accelerator turns up under four different venue spellings. It is one building, on Avon Street.

Coming up

FinTech West, Friday 6 November. The agenda is close to complete, roughly 500 are already registered, and there is an eight-founder Showcase with Birketts LLP involved. One day past our cut-off, which is the only reason it is not the headline. Register before the week turns.

Across the network

Manchester has the week's best-corrected listing. The Builder Community Meetup on Wed 4 Nov, running as Conversations in the AI era, had the wrong speakers in our database until this week. The real line-up: Harry Chyshkala (CTO, IC Studio), Valdis Strautins (Founder & CEO, WD Market), Rob Pickering (Founder, Polite.ai). Twilio hosts the room and employs none of them.

Tell us what we missed

Fourteen events, and that is still not all of Bristol. The best things here travel by word of mouth, and a few we leave off when an organiser's page is private. Run something that deserves a mention? Send it over and the next edition carries it. Full calendar at anopenroom.com/bristol. See you after FinTech West.
