Seventeen tech events in Dublin between Friday 18 and Thursday 24 September, and fourteen of them cost nothing. The three that do cost something are priced like professional obligations rather than nights out: €495, €244 and €184. That gap tells you where the city is right now. The free rooms are where people are still figuring things out together; the paid ones are where somebody's compliance deadline lives.
The Big One: FintechNation 26
FintechNation 26 runs Tuesday 22 September from 09:00 at The Round Room at the Mansion House on Dawson Street, €244, from Fintech Ireland.
It is Ireland's flagship fintech gathering, and it does the thing Dublin does better than almost anywhere: it puts the banks, the payments firms, the regulators and the startups in one room and lets them argue in person. Expect the regulatory track to carry as much weight as the keynotes — in a country where the central bank's view can decide a roadmap, that is not a consolation prize. If you sell into financial services, the value is the coffee queue, not the stage.
Friday and Saturday: ease in
Surviving in the SaaS World opens the week at 13:00 on Friday 18 September at The Guinness Enterprise Centre in the Liberties, free — pricing, churn, runway, and the unglamorous business of staying alive between rounds. Then Agent-to-Agent (A2A) Protocol: Building Autonomous Networks at 19:00 in The Tara Building, free, from the Dublin AI Applications Study Group. It is a study group, not a lecture, so turn up with opinions.
Saturday is one room and it is the gentlest on the board: Morning Grind: AI, Coffee & Connection at 10:00 in Coffeeangel, Dublin 4, free. No agenda, no badges. If you are new to Dublin's AI scene, start here rather than at a conference.
Monday: the €495 day
AI Act Quality Management Systems QuickStart sits at the Hilton Dublin, Charlemont Place, Monday 21 September from 09:00, €495 — a full training day on the quality management system the EU AI Act now demands of high-risk AI providers. Nobody attends this for fun. If that obligation has landed on your desk, it is cheaper than the alternative.
That evening, Owning through M&A at The Spencer Hotel in the IFSC, 18:30, free: search funds, deal sourcing and financing for people who would rather buy a cash-flowing business than start one. A genuinely under-discussed route in Ireland.
Tuesday and Wednesday: the good evenings
Beyond FintechNation, Tuesday gives you FUTURE MAKERS at TU Dublin Aungier Street, 09:30, free, on research and enterprise partnerships that travel; and Designing What's Next with Dublin UX & SiriusXM at SiriusXM on St Stephen's Green, 18:00, free — one of the better-attended design nights in the city, on what happens when AI moves into the design process itself. Expect a full room.
Wednesday belongs to Mná Made: Rewriting the Innovation Playbook with Kelly Vero, 12:00 at the Guinness Enterprise Centre, free.
Vero, founder of NAKAMA, came up through games and the metaverse and is one of the sharper voices on digital identity. A free lunchtime hour with a speaker of that calibre is the best value on the board. The same morning, TU Dublin runs Start Your Own Business — From Good Idea to Real Opportunity at 09:30, free. In the evening, DubJUG 269 at tcube on Grand Canal Quay, 18:15 — the Java user group's 269th meeting, which is its own argument.
Thursday: five rooms, all before the pubs
Thursday 24 September is the pile-up. Ireland eGovernment Awards & Summit 2026 starts at 08:00 in O'Reilly Hall, UCD, €184. Half an hour later, two free breakfast sessions open on opposite sides of the city: How AI is Transforming Cybersecurity at the Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge, and Women in AI: Regulation, Governance & Competitiveness at KPMG, 1 Stokes Place. Then September Start-up Café at the Greenway Hub, TU Dublin Grangegorman, 10:00, free, and Open Source Science: Generative Computing at Trinity College Dublin Business School, 17:30, free.
Last week, briefly
TU Dublin's Beyond the Prompt on the 14th was the week's strongest draw, and the built-environment crowd turned out for it. BrowserStack's QA meetup filled Workday's Smithfield office again, and Rebel Meetups did their usual trick of assembling a room that is not all one job title. The pattern carries straight into this week: the university-hosted daytime sessions are pulling the numbers, and TU Dublin has three more of them in the next seven days.
Who should go where
Founders: if you have one day, spend it at FintechNation only if you sell into financial services. Otherwise take Friday at the GEC and Wednesday's free hour with Kelly Vero, and keep your €244.
Investors: the dealflow is thin this week. FintechNation is the room; Monday's M&A session is the interesting outlier if you look at acquisition rather than seed.
Builders: Friday's A2A study group and DubJUG on Wednesday. Both free, both technical, neither will waste your evening on a sales pitch.
Sales and marketing: Dublin UX at SiriusXM on Tuesday. It is a design crowd, so go to listen rather than to sell.
