Manchester tech events this week: 18 of the 25 land on two days (25 Sep-1 Oct 2026)

Last Friday we told you that turning up to a Thursday meetup in the Hanover Building was how you got into the AWS Community Summit. That Summit is now this Thursday. It sits inside 25 tech events in Manchester on our city page between Friday 25 September and Thursday 1 October, 24 of them free — and the number that will decide your week is neither of those. Eighteen of the 25 land on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday to Tuesday is a warm-up, and you should use it as one.

The Big One: MLOps.WTF takes the loudest hour of the week

MLOps.WTF by Fuzzy Labs — Meetup #11 runs Wednesday 30 September, 18:00, at the GM Digital Security Hub (DiSH), free.

Eleven editions in, Fuzzy Labs' meetup has the least fashionable subject on a calendar that talks about AI constantly: getting a model into production and keeping it there. Pipelines, retraining, the monitoring that tells you the thing quietly stopped working three weeks ago. Six other rooms that evening discuss what AI could do; this is the only one about what happens after the demo, and it is the week's featured evening listing. If you operate the systems rather than commission them, it is worth the clash.

Friday to Tuesday: the part you can actually plan

Friday opens at 08:30 with NWSmart5.0: Safe AI for Manufacturing SMEs at DiSH, free, from the Centre for Sustainable Innovation — AI adoption for smaller manufacturers, framed as confidence rather than anxiety.

The weekend is unusually good. LFG Manchester: Hackathon takes Saturday 26 September from 09:00 at the People's History Museum, free: a full day of builders, engineers and designers on UK growth problems, in a building with opinions about the subject. Two hours later, Open Data Manchester runs Joy Diversion from Altogether Otherwise, 11:00, free — a choose-your-own walk through the city and Salford via its open data. Odd format, good conversations. Then AI + Coffee Manchester at Campfield House, Sunday 27 September, 11:00, free, with no talks and no running order.

Monday belongs to the Manchester Indian Film Festival's India's AI & Film Future at SODA, 17:00, free. Tuesday runs two rooms at 18:30: Open Data Manchester again with Up in Smoke: Exploring the Data Behind UK Wildfires, and Rust Manchester's September Code Night at Hackspace Manchester. Both free.

Wednesday: nine rooms, and five start inside fifteen minutes

Manchester Tech for Good Catalyst Launch opens 09:00 at DiSH, free — the start of a three-year programme wiring the city's tech sector to social organisations. Prolific North's CTO Debrief is 09:30 at voco Manchester, free and off the record, on hiring, platform decisions and AI adoption. 3D Printing: The Business of Modern Manufacturing runs 14:00 at the Business & IP Centre, free.

Then 17:45 happens. Shipping AI That Actually Works relaunches Manchester AI in person at Accenture's Circle Square office, free, after months off. At 18:00: AI Cafe V9.0 at the Royal Northern College of Music, ProductTank Manchester back from its summer break at Grayce with three speakers, the D365 & Power Platform UK User Group evening edition at Irwin Mitchell, Fabricio Laguna's AI Transformation discovery workshop at The Alan Manchester, and MLOps.WTF. All free. You get one. Pick by what is broken at work.

Thursday: a free summit, and women's health tech takes the day

AWS Community Summit 2026 opens 08:30 at O2 Victoria Warehouse, run by AWS User Group Manchester, and our listing carries no charge.

Around it, three organisers put women's health technology on the same day — the clearest theme of the week. Women's Health Technology Summit 2026 runs from 12:00 at the Core Technology Facility, free, from Digital Futures, with Dame Lesley Regan, Women's Health Ambassador for England, Professor Sabine van der Veer of the University of Manchester and Lopa Patel of Diversity UK. The University of Salford follows at 16:30 with From Analogue to Digital: The Future of Healthcare, free, on records, remote monitoring and workforce change. Then Venture Café's Shaping the Future of Women's Health at 17:00, free, venue on registration.

The rest of Thursday, free unless flagged: Female Founder UK's Manchester meet-up at The Anthologist, 09:30, £12 — the only paid listing this week. MD Tech Leader Talks 26 from Manchester Digital, 12:00, No.1 Circle Square, on proving AI spend returns something. bet365's Threats, Tech, and Truths at 17:30, venue on registration. mcr.leaders at The Castlefield Rooms from 18:00, hosted by Jonathan Vardon with Beccy Weeks, Mikey Smith and James Leech. And BSides Manchester: Ground Truth at DiSH, 18:00 — community-run security research, no vendor floor.

Venue corner: DiSH has four of the 25

The GM Digital Security Hub on Lloyd Street carries Friday's manufacturing-AI morning, Wednesday's Tech for Good launch, Wednesday's MLOps.WTF and Thursday's BSides. Four rooms, four communities, one building, seven days. If you want one Manchester address to learn, learn that one.

Who should go where

Builders. Wednesday, and it is a four-way: MLOps.WTF if you own models in production, ProductTank if you own the roadmap, D365PPUG if you own a Power Platform estate, Manchester AI's relaunch for the wider room. Then Victoria Warehouse on Thursday if you can take the day off.

Security people. BSides, Thursday evening, no argument. The research is the point rather than the vendor.

Founders. Saturday's hackathon is the honest call — a day building alongside people beats an evening of introductions. Otherwise, Female Founder UK on Thursday morning is the only listing built around ownership.

Investors. Quiet week, and we would rather say so: no pitch night, no demo day. The nearest thing to dealflow is Thursday's healthtech summit at the Core Technology Facility, where the spinout pipeline is.

Sales and marketing. Thursday lunchtime with Manchester Digital, for the ROI conversation your buyers are having without you. Skip the general mixers; the calendar is too strong for one.

Worth knowing

• Two Thursday evening listings reach us without a venue. Venture Café's women's health gathering and bet365's security evening show no address in our data. The location arrives with the confirmation; do not plan a route from our page.
• The AWS Community Summit shows as free on our board. Last week we flagged a meetup-attendance route into it; the row now carries no charge at all. Check the organiser's page, and book early.
• Bring photo ID to anything inside a corporate office. One Manchester organiser last Thursday required ID matching the RSVP name. Accenture, Irwin Mitchell and Grayce all host this week.
• Manchester AI is back after months off — and it relaunches at the front of the most contested hour of the week. If you have been waiting for it, that is worth knowing before Wednesday's other four invitations land.
