Paris tech events this week: conference season arrives, and six free rooms survive it (11–17 September 2026)

Porte de Versailles. The Folies Bergère. The Les Echos auditorium. A fairground museum in Bercy. Those are four of the venues on our Paris tech events page this week, and the list tells you what has changed: the rentrée has stopped being evenings in scale-up offices and turned into conference season. Ten events between 11 and 17 September, four of them ticketed halls, and the badges land three days in a row.

Theme of the week: four conferences, three days, one city

Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each carry a paid conference, and between them they cover most of the French tech establishment. Big Data & AI Paris 2026 takes the trade-show route. Paris AI Forum 2026 — Tuesday 15 September, 09:00–18:00, Auditorium Les Echos-Le Parisien, €750 — is WAN-IFRA's forum for media and publishing, on newsrooms moving from AI experiments to industrial deployment. FDDay 2026 — France Digitale Day, Wednesday 16 September from 09:00, puts roughly 4,500 founders, investors and policymakers inside the Musée des Arts Forains for €350 — the most Parisian sentence in this post. And dotAI 2026 closes on Thursday 17 September from 09:00 at the Folies Bergère, €390, single track, around 1,500 engineers in a theatre.

Four halls, four rooms of power: industry, media, capital, and the people who write the code. Pick by which one you need, not by which sounds biggest.

The Big One: Big Data & AI Paris

Big Data & AI Paris 2026 — Tuesday 15 September, 09:00–18:00, Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. €290. Runs two days.

France's flagship data and AI show, and the only event this week we have flagged as featured. Several hundred exhibitors, a programme running from platform engineering to governance, and — the actual reason to go — the densest concentration of French data leadership in the year's calendar. If your job involves selling to, hiring from or benchmarking against the people who run data at CAC 40 scale, they are in one building on Tuesday.

Two caveats. A trade show is a corridor event: the value is in who you arrange to meet, not the sessions you wander into. And it clashes head-on with the Paris AI Forum, so a media-side data lead has a real decision to make. At €290 against €750, that choice usually makes itself.

The free six

Saturday 12 September, 10:00 — Agents, Everywhere: Bots, Channels & More — Global Hackathon, AI Tinkerers Paris. Free.

The Paris leg of a hackathon running simultaneously across the AI Tinkerers network's 231 cities, on context-aware agents, with OpenAI among the sponsors. The only weekend event in the window, and the only one where you build rather than listen. No venue in our listing — the address comes with registration.

Monday 14 September, 18:30 — The Shift — SEO/GEO: Optimising Search for AI, Algolia. Free. initClub takes over Algolia's offices for three talks on what search optimisation becomes when the reader is a model. The sharpest free evening of the week, and the one most likely to change how someone works on Tuesday.

Tuesday 15 September, 17:00 — Careers of Tomorrow: An Inclusive Recruitment Evening by Generation France, FactSet France. Free. Career-changers and people from under-represented backgrounds, matched with employers hiring into tech and data roles. If you are hiring juniors, this beats another agency retainer.

Wednesday 16 September, 18:00 — Qoder Paris Night: From Weights to Production, STATION F. Free. At the Founder's Cafe on the eve of dotAI, on shipping AI-assisted code at scale rather than demoing it once. The unofficial warm-up.

Wednesday 16 September, 18:30 — IA Afterwork — 16 September 2026, Quai de la Photo. Free. Informal networking with short interventions, aboard the floating venue moored by the Seine in the 13th. The best room this week for simply meeting people.

Thursday 17 September, 09:00 — Cap & Coffee: Conversational AI, Media and Information Disorder, Cap Digital. Free. How assistants reshape what audiences read, and how synthetic content moves through media supply chains — a free counterweight to the €750 forum two days earlier.

First-timer's note

If this is your first week on our Paris page, read the split above as the map. Conferences here are bought weeks ahead and run to a printed programme; the free evenings sit inside company offices — Algolia, FactSet, STATION F — and building reception works from the registration list, not goodwill. Sign up properly, bring ID, and arrive within twenty minutes of the stated time: Paris starts closer to schedule than its reputation suggests.

Who should go where

Founders — Wednesday at FDDay. The one room this week where investors and policymakers are in the building on purpose, and €350 is a defensible line on the card. Investors — same day, same room, and little else; the conferences either side are practitioner events. Builders — Saturday's hackathon if you have the weekend, STATION F on Wednesday if you do not, dotAI on Thursday if someone else is paying. Sales and marketing — Monday at Algolia. Generative engine optimisation is about to become a line item in your plan, and the free briefing is now. Job-hunting or hiring — Tuesday at FactSet, no contest.

Worth knowing

• Tuesday has two conferences at once, both 09:00–18:00, at opposite ends of the city — Porte de Versailles and the Les Echos auditorium. There is no doing both.
• Thursday morning is the same problem in miniature: dotAI and Cap & Coffee both open at 09:00. One costs €390, the other nothing.
• The Saturday hackathon publishes no venue on our page. The address arrives with your confirmation — register before Friday, not on the morning.
• Ten events is what we can vouch for, not everything Paris runs this week. This city page is still young and we hand-check every line rather than scraping the lot.
