Paris tech events this week: the institutions are carrying it (2–8 October 2026)

Paris tech events 2–8 Oct: Bpifrance fills the Accor Arena, a ministry hosts 6G, Mistral runs a legal-AI hackathon, and Harrison Chase lands Monday.

Paris does not run on meetups alone, and this week makes the point plainly. The heaviest of the Paris tech events on our page between Friday and Thursday belong to a state investment bank filling the Accor Arena, a government ministry hosting a half-day on 6G, the national digital-health agency, and a business school running a full-day lab on cancer care. The community rooms sit underneath all of it — Ruby, security, agent builders, an afterwork for CTOs — but the spine is institutional, and being able to say that is part of what makes Paris Paris. We opened this city recently enough that what follows is a hand-picked read rather than the whole map.

The institutional spine

Thu 8 Oct, 08:00 — BIG 2026 by Bpifrance, Accor Arena. The state investment bank takes over an arena for Europe's largest single-day business gathering: hundreds of sessions from early morning into the evening, tens of thousands of founders, executives, investors and public-sector figures. Free, which for a building that size is unusual. Mostly French-language.

Tue 6 Oct, 08:30 — AI and 6G: Building Tomorrow's Intelligent World. A half-day at the Ministry for Higher Education, Research and Space, programmed by the Systematic Paris-Region cluster: the 6G-DALI AI framework, MLOps-based AI-as-a-service experimentation, the DataOps side of a 6G data lake. The deep end, in French.

Wed 7 Oct, 14:00 — Second Edition of the ANS Meetings, PariSanté Campus. The Agence du Numérique en Santé sets out where France's health-data and interoperability programmes actually stand. If anything you build plugs into French health infrastructure, the rules get explained here by the people who write them.

Mon 5 Oct — EDHEC runs one subject twice, two ways. The AI in Oncology by 2030 Strategy Lab at 08:30 is a full-day working session on evidence, reimbursement and the gap between trial and clinic; AI Against Cancer: Does Europe Have the Means to Match Its Ambitions? at 19:00 is the argumentative evening version, in French. Pick by whether you want to work or to disagree.

Tue 6 Oct, 09:00 — Deep Tech Scale-up Objective — Workshop 1. Systematic's Scale-up Deep Tech Club, capped at twenty, on structuring a team through growth. One thing better heard from us: the sibling workshop in this series restricts entry to founders who have raised €2M or more, so check the door before building a morning around it. Address with the RSVP.

The Big One: Mistral puts lawyers and engineers on the same team

Sun 4 Oct, 08:30 — LLM x Law Hackathon in Paris #2. A full day building legal-AI prototypes, hosted by Mistral AI, with engineers and lawyers mixed into the same teams rather than sitting in separate rooms. It scores highest of anything in Paris this week on our own numbers, and the reason is easy to say: legaltech is the clearest near-term commercial use of language models, and a hackathon run by France's own frontier lab is as direct an entry point into that scene as exists. Sunday is a real cost, and this is the one thing worth paying it for.

The venue field is empty on purpose — the address arrives when you register. Do that this week, not on Saturday night.

STATION F takes Tuesday and Wednesday

Wed 7 Oct, 10:00 — Open Q&A with Xavier Niel and Stanislas Niox-Chateau. An hour of unscripted questions with the founder of STATION F, Free and École 42 alongside the co-founder and CEO of Doctolib. No panel, no moderator theme: the room asks, they answer. Sessions like this fill.

Before that, an 08:30 collision on Tue 6 Oct: Build, Share and Accelerate with AWS Startups & Stripe on the architecture, credits and billing decisions early companies get wrong, and Data Foundations for Agentic AI with Databricks, AWS and Cloud Combinator on the governance, lineage and retrieval layer agents stand on. Same time, same site, so you are choosing one.

The community rooms

Mon 5 Oct, 18:15 — LangChain Meetup with Harrison Chase and Pigment (Paris). LangChain's co-founder and CEO in a meetup rather than a keynote slot, on where LangGraph is heading and how agent systems survive production. Address on registration. More on the timing below.

The rest: AI Builders Rendez-vous #9, Mon 5 Oct 19:00 at Le Bar de L'Empire Hotel — practitioners demoing what shipped and what broke, in French. SecParis Meetup #31 at WeScale, 19:00, and ParisRb.new at Pennylane, 19:15, both Tue 6 Oct and both in the 9th. Then Thu 8 Oct splits three ways: Tech.Rocks Afterwork with Fastly at 18:30 for engineering leadership (address with the RSVP), AI Empowered by Women at 18:30 at Criteo — technical talks from women doing the work, open to everyone — and Inspi'Her at 19:00 at La Cristallerie.

Who should go where

Builders. Best week of anyone's. Sunday's Mistral hackathon first, Harrison Chase on Monday second, and if you only have one Tuesday evening, SecParis over the Ruby meetup unless Rails is your day job.

Founders. BIG on Thursday is the highest-density room in France and it costs nothing; treat it as a day of work, not a day out. Wednesday morning with Niel and Niox-Chateau is worth rearranging a call for. Deep-tech and post-Series A: Systematic's Tuesday workshop is aimed at you, subject to that threshold.

Investors. Quiet week for dedicated dealflow, and we would rather say so than dress it up. BIG is where everyone else will be, so it is where you should be; the Niel hour is the better room for reading the operator side.

Sales and marketing. Thin. BIG and nothing else, unless healthtech is your territory — then the ANS afternoon is where the buyers sit.

Worth knowing

  • Every event on the Paris page this week is free — all seventeen. Not "free tier available": no ticket price anywhere, including an arena and a ministry. We do not expect to write that sentence often.
  • Four of the seventeen have no address, correctly. The Mistral hackathon, the LangChain meetup, Systematic's workshop and the Tech.Rocks afterwork all release their venue on registration. An empty field beats a guessed building.
  • "Doors" and "start" are not the same thing, and our listings usually hold only one. Use the organiser's doors time where they publish one, especially for this week's 08:00 and 08:30 starts. And if the venue is a company office — Criteo, Pennylane, WeScale — bring ID in the name you booked under. Three organisers in our network demanded exactly that in the last fortnight.
  • An "available" label proves nothing this week. Our ingest normalises sold out, waitlist and invite-only back to available — three separate city runs confirmed it. Check the organiser's page before counting on a seat.

Do I need to register, or can I walk in?

Register. Four of this week's events will not tell you where they are until you do, and BIG at arena scale is a badge operation. Walk-ins are realistic only for the smaller evening meetups, and even there you are trusting the host's word on capacity.

Across the network: Paris gets Harrison Chase first

Monday here, Tuesday in Amsterdam. The LangChain meetup in Paris on 5 October is the first of two consecutive nights, and the easier of the two rooms to get into: the Amsterdam edition has gone to a waitlist, and its organiser says waitlisted guests will be turned away at the door. Same speaker, one night earlier, no queue yet.

Tell us what we are missing

A fortnight ago the week of 12 October had nothing spotlighted on our Paris page at all; it now carries ai-PULSE 2026 by Scaleway at STATION F on the 13th and the MIT Paris Symposium on the 15th, because somebody went looking. That is how this city's coverage gets built. If you run something that is not in our Paris listings, send it over — early readers here shape the coverage.
