Rome tech events this week: the investor paragraph finally has something in it (16-22 October 2026)
Rome tech events 16-22 Oct: eight events, seven free.
Two editions running, Rome's investor paragraph has ended the same way: nothing for you here, and we would rather say so than dress a conference up as dealflow. This week we write the other sentence. Thursday morning, Lazio Innova opens two free days on venture capital and startup investment in Italy - the first room on this city page built for people who write cheques.
Eight tech events in Rome between Friday 16 and Thursday 22 October: seven free, one ticketed, nothing at the weekend, three of them stacked into Wednesday. Three come from a regional agency or a foundation, which is this city in one line. Rome is the earliest-stage calendar we run, so eight is what we can see rather than all that happens. Day by day, Thursday morning last.
Friday: two all-day starts, half an hour apart
Fri 16 Oct, 09:00 - #4{Dev} 2026 - Sharp4Dev, Seraphicum. Free. SharpCoding's .NET and software-architecture conference at the Seraphicum in EUR: 15 sessions, 17 speakers, around 100 people. Small, technical, community-run, and the only purely engineering room of the week.

Fri 16 Oct, 09:30 - SERP Conf. Rome 2026 - SEO, E-Commerce & AI, Nazionale Spazio Eventi. EUR 279. After eight editions in Bulgaria and Austria, the single-stage, all-English format reaches Rome for the first time, Aleyda Solis among the confirmed speakers. The week's only ticket: worth it if organic traffic is your revenue line, the clearest skip otherwise.
Monday: one room, not for everyone
Mon 19 Oct, 09:30 - COMUNICARE L'ABITARE - 2026 edition, Casa dell'Architettura di Roma. Free. Two days in which the housing ecosystem compares notes on communications, digital platforms, data and services. Proptech-adjacent rather than tech proper - but if you sell software into real estate or construction, the densest room of your quarter.
Wednesday: three at once
Wed 21 Oct, 09:00 - Blue Planet Economy Expoforum 2026, Piazzale Mediterraneo. Free. Four days from Fiera Roma on the marine economy: ports and logistics, shipbuilding, offshore energy. Check the map: Fiumicino, not the city.
Wed 21 Oct, 09:00 - Knowledge that connects. In Rome, Palestra dell'Innovazione. Free. Fondazione Mondo Digitale turns twenty-five and spends a week on it, between the Orto Botanico and its own Palestra dell'Innovazione, opening with a digital-economy conference.
Hidden gem: WeLead
Wed 21 Oct, 14:30 - WeLead: Women Leading Business - Rome. Free, address on the registration page. ING Business Banking and Fondazione Mondo Digitale bring WeLead to Rome with CNA Impresa Donna and Citta Metropolitana di Roma Capitale: an afternoon of networking for women running or starting a business. The row has no venue name because the organiser publishes an address but never names the building - we left it empty rather than invent one.
Thursday evening: the only meetup
Thu 22 Oct, 18:00 - Mindstone AI meetup Rome: ButterflAI Effect, Talent Garden Ostiense. Free. Talent Garden with the Mindstone community on how AI is actually put to work inside organisations: case studies, not keynotes. The one evening you can walk into after work all week.
Who should go where
Investors. Thursday, both days if you can. Go for the room, not the programme: there is no pitch session, and the value is who else shows up when a region discusses its own capital.
Founders. Thursday morning, then Thursday evening at Talent Garden for practitioners instead of policy.
Builders. Friday at the Seraphicum, and realistically only Friday. SERP Conf. is good and not your EUR 279.
Sales and marketing. The inverse: SERP Conf. is your one room. If the company will not pay, Mindstone on Thursday is free.
The big one: Lazio Innova's venture capital days
Thu 22 Oct, 09:30 - Venture Capital: A Winning Choice for Italy - Lazio Focus, Lazio Innova. Free. Two days on venture capital and startup investment in Italy and Lazio, day one built around the Italian Tech Alliance: market data and the policy argument. Lazio Innova is the agency behind the bandi we have covered all month: the people in the room deploy the money. Free, which for a venture capital event is itself the story.

Worth knowing
- A correction to our own numbers. Last Friday we put Cybertech Europe at 700 euro. Our row now reads 950. Price it from the organiser.
- Rome fills the rooms it does not charge for. Last Wednesday's autonomous-driving day at Roma Eventi sold out - one of the few Rome rows to hold that label rather than normalising back to available. Register early for Wednesday.
- "Free" is sometimes our fallback. Where an organiser publishes no price anywhere, our software records free.
Coming up, and a request
Our window closes a day too early: I-RIM 3D 2026, the national robotics conference, runs 23-25 October in its eighth edition, with a peer-reviewed track in Springer's Proceedings in Advanced Robotics and Maker Faire alongside.
Everything we hold sits on the Rome listings page. Eight is the view from outside: we see the foundations, the region and the conference halls, not the dinners, the lab demos or the communities that meet unpublished. Run one, or go to one? Tell us - next Friday's eight becomes ten.
