Rome tech events this week: 61 of them, more than London — Rome Future Week takes the city (18–24 Sep 2026)
Rome tech events 18-24 Sep 2026: Rome Future Week puts 61 events on our Rome page, more than London.
Sixty-one. That is how many tech events sit on our Rome page between 18 and 24 September — more than London's eighteen, more than any other city in the network this week. We have opened every previous Rome edition by calling this the earliest-stage city we cover. That sentence is retired.
Rome Future Week 2026 is the reason: it runs Monday 21 to Thursday 24 September, and 59 of the 61 land inside those four days. Fifty-nine are free; two are paid, all week. So this edition breaks our usual shape — no day-by-day, no full listing. Sixty-one is not a calendar, it is a problem, and curation is the job. Below are the twenty-two networking events and working sessions we would put in a diary, by track. We are choosing; the rest are on the city page.
The outlier: Saturday night, in a cinema
Rome AI Festival - III Edition — Cinema Adriano, Piazza Cavour 22, Saturday 19 September, 18:30, free.

The strongest single event of Rome's week is not in Rome Future Week at all. The third Rome AI Festival takes a working cinema on Piazza Cavour for an evening on where generative AI is landing in Italian creative, media and product work. An odd venue, and that is the appeal: a room built for watching something together rather than standing about with a lanyard. In Italian.
Sunday 20 September has nothing on it at all — the last clear day before the city fills. Use it.
Track one: the institutions open their doors
This is what Rome has that nobody else in our network does. All free, all in Italian unless stated.
- Observing the Earth with Satellites — UniLink, Via del Casale di San Pio V 44, Monday 21 September, 09:00. ASI and ESA on what the current constellations measure and how that data reaches commercial users. Two days.
- Quantum Next: Challenges, Impacts and Prospects — LUMSA, Via Pompeo Magno 28, Monday 21 September, 14:15. What is close to commercial use, and what the cryptographic migration means for your organisation now.
- Europe's road to digital autonomy — Centro Studi Americani, Via Michelangelo Caetani 32, Wednesday 23 September, 11:00. Chips, cloud, standards and industrial policy, with UNINT and Geopolitica.info.
- Protecting Cognitive Infrastructure — UNINT, Via Cristoforo Colombo 200, Wednesday 23 September, 17:00. An open lecture on Social Engineering Intelligence: sociology, cyber-psychology and cybersecurity pointed at human vulnerability.
- Scalable Digital Innovations — India's Experience — Embassy of India, Thursday 24 September, 17:30, in English. Digital Public Infrastructure from the country that ran the largest live test of it.
Track two: the week founders have been waiting for
Learn, Eat & Drink: Startups, VC and Investors matching the West Coast + Asia + Rome — Jo&Joe Roma, Via delle Quattro Fontane 113, Wednesday 23 September, 16:30, free, in English.

Startup Grind Rome puts West Coast and Asian investors in a room with Rome-based startups and runs structured matching rather than a mixer; Lydia Flocchini and Jose Padilla of LegalMente AI speak. The closest thing to international dealflow the city has listed all year.
- VV8 | Investing in Innovation in Lazio and Impronta Accelerator — Opening Day — both at Villa Fassini, Wednesday 23 September, 09:30 and 14:30. ELIS puts Vertis SGR and Open Advisory on stage in the morning for where institutional money in Lazio actually goes; the afternoon opens its accelerator cohort. One building, two reasons to cross town.
- Pitch Day – AcceleraImpresa IV | CTE Roma — Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti, Tiburtina, Tuesday 22 September, 15:00. The fourth cohort pitches at the municipal deeptech hub. Expect 5G, IoT and urban tech.
- 2026 grant workshop for startups — Up Urban Places, Via Tiburtina 652/A, Tuesday 22 September, 10:00. MiFinanzio on which public calls exist and how to prepare. Unglamorous, and how a lot of Italian companies get funded.
- Startup or illusion? Beyond the broken script — Teatro Parioli Costanzo, Tuesday 22 September, 15:30. Three founders — starting, scaling, and one who walked away — plus a VC. In an actual theatre.
- Origin – The Startup Hub — Zest Hub, Wednesday 23 September, 09:30. Five hours on the university as a startup engine, EdTech and the studio model. One of three Origin sessions across the 22nd and 23rd, and the strongest.
Track three: rooms where you build something
Talks are the easy part of a festival. These leave you holding something.
- Mindstone Rome September AI Meetup: ButterflAI Effect — Talent Garden Roma Ostiense, Wednesday 23 September, 18:00, free, in English. Practitioners showing what they built, then unhurried conversation. Rome's best recurring AI room.
- Building Agentic Applications with AWS — Industrie Fluviali, Tuesday 22 September, 14:00. Recube on orchestration, tool use, guardrails and what agents cost once they run unattended. For engineers past the prototype.
- Codingirl AI Lab: build an AI agent — Innovation Hub, Via della Bufalotta 374, Thursday 24 September, 14:00. Xavier Del Giudice takes the room from chatbot to a system that acts, and you build one. Data-Driven.Ai runs a second lab on Wednesday morning.
- Cybersecurity LAB: From Zero to Hero! — Innovation Hub, Wednesday 23 September, 14:00. Stormshield's Davide Pala on how an attack is assembled. Beginner level, deliberately.
- Build with AI | AI as Raw Material — CORE Backstage Hub, Monte Mario, Thursday 24 September, 18:30, EUR 15, capped at 25 places.
- Open Day — 42 Roma ELIS — 42 Roma, Via Sandro Sandri 81, Thursday 24 September, 18:00. The free peer-to-peer programming school opens its campus — send anyone considering a career change.
Who should go where
- Founders — Wednesday 16:30 at Jo&Joe. If you are raising and do one thing this week, do that. Tuesday's grant workshop if you would rather have non-dilutive money than a term sheet.
- Investors — Wednesday is your whole week, twice over: VV8 at Villa Fassini in the morning, Startup Grind's matching afternoon at Jo&Joe. Tuesday's CTE pitch day for deeptech rather than software.
- Builders — the AWS agents session Tuesday afternoon, Mindstone Wednesday evening. That pair is your spine.
- Everyone — skip the general "AI explained to business" panels. There are a dozen across Future Week and after the second they blur. Spend the slot on a lab.
Worth knowing: surviving Wednesday
Wednesday has 21 events. Thursday has 18. Wednesday cannot be done, so stop trying. Villa Fassini at 09:30, off Via Giuseppe Donati in the north-east, is nowhere near Centro Studi Americani at 11:00 in the centro storico. Pick a half-day and stay in one part of the city.
Two things start at 18:00 in the same building on Wednesday. Mindstone and Talent Garden's own Strategy for startups in the AI era at Aperitivo both run at Talent Garden Roma Ostiense: same address, same minute, different rooms. That strategy session repeats from breakfast on Tuesday — take the morning slot, keep Wednesday evening for Mindstone.
Only two events all week cost money: Monday's Business with AI | Futures Thinking Workshop at Urbe Hub, EUR 24, and Thursday's EUR 15 Build with AI. Free still means registered, and capped labs fill. Five of our twenty-two run in English; assume Italian otherwise.
Across the network, and before you go
Wednesday's Mindstone is the same "ButterflAI Effect" programme running in Manchester on Tuesday 22 September and Milan the same Wednesday night. Three cities, one format, two days.
Two weeks ago Rome's curated calendar was one event. This week it is sixty-one, and what changed is not the city but how much of it we can see. Running something in Future Week we have missed? Send it over. Everything we have is at anopenroom.com/rome. Rest on Sunday — you will need it.
