Rome tech events this week: five rooms, none of them before Tuesday (30 October - 5 November 2026)
Five tech events in Rome, 30 Oct-5 Nov: criminal law and cybersecurity at Luiss, AI and cultural heritage at the Collegio Romano, MOST at the Acquario.
Rome tech events this week: five rooms, none of them before Tuesday
Rome spent the last week of October in a gasworks. Maker Faire and the I-RIM robotics conference between them took the Gazometro Ostiense, and seventeen tech events in Rome landed in the seven days to Thursday. This week there are five.
Five, and we are printing the number rather than stretching it. Rome's calendar is the newest we run and it moves in pulses like this - a fortnight of institutional density, then a week where the city gets its breath back. The upside of a five-event week is that we can tell you what is actually in each room, who called the meeting and what you carry out of it. All five are free to register. Nothing starts before Tuesday, and three of the five are Tuesday.
The week ahead, by what you leave with
A map of who holds the research money
MOST 2026 Annual Event - Tuesday 3 November, 10:30, Acquario Romano on Piazza Manfredo Fanti. The annual public event of MOST, Italy's National Centre for Sustainable Mobility: a foundation that ties the universities into the national mobility research programme. Featured on our page. Go for the org chart. An annual event is where a consortium says out loud what it funds next, and in Rome that information is most of the game.
A place in a supply chain
Lazio Aerospace & Defence Platform, second meeting - Tuesday 3 November, 16:00, at Lazio Innova. The subtitle is "from visibility to matchmaking", which tells you what it is for. Regione Lazio and Lazio Innova are mapping the region's aerospace and defence supply chain, and this is the second in-person session. If you make anything that ends up on an aircraft or a satellite, it is the shortest route onto that map. Last Friday we wrote that Lazio Innova had published nothing past 28 October. They have now.
A better question about AI
Data, cultural heritage and memory - Tuesday 3 November, 19:00, Collegio Romano. Ninety minutes from VIVE, the body that runs the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia, on what AI changes in the study, protection and promotion of cultural heritage. In Italian. This is Rome's real specialism and no other city on our network has it: a place where the heritage sector is a technology buyer, and where the people deciding what gets digitised are in the room.

A Python class that runs
Escape from Labyrinth with Kiro - Wednesday 4 November, 19:30, Talent Garden Ostiense. The Rome AWS user group built this as a contest rather than a talk: write a Python Navigator class that walks an avatar through a text maze it cannot see. In Italian. The only room this week with a keyboard in it, and the only one you leave with something that runs.
The one above the others
Criminal Law and Cybersecurity - Thursday 5 November, 12:00, Luiss Guido Carli, the Toti lecture theatre on the Viale Romania campus. Two hours built around the Paola Severino and Antonio Gullo book on criminal law and cybersecurity. It is our highest-scoring Rome row this week, and we flagged it seven days early.
Why it is the one: criminal liability for cyber failures in Italy is being settled in rooms exactly like this, and a university lecture theatre is the only version of that room you can book a free seat in. If you ship anything touching personal data or critical infrastructure, you get two hours on where the exposure actually sits. Lawyers get the authors.

Who should go where
Founders. Tuesday, twice. 16:00 at Lazio Innova if you are anywhere near aerospace, defence or dual-use - that pipeline is Rome's structural advantage over the rest of Italy. Then Thursday at Luiss.
Investors. Thin week, and we will say so rather than dress a conference up as dealflow. MOST's annual event on Tuesday morning is the nearest thing: public mobility research money, visible, universities attached. It is a map, not a room where cheques get written. If you have one slot, make it that one.
Builders. Wednesday 19:30 at Talent Garden, and that is the whole list. Which is why the next section exists.
Worth knowing
All five rows read free and not one organiser publishes a figure. Our intake stores a missing price as "free", so read the badge as "nothing published" - and register anyway, because the institutional rooms cap.
Three of the five come from a foundation, a regional agency or a university. That is Rome in one line - public sector and research first, private rooms second.
One ask, and it is the real one
Five is what the city looks like from outside. What we cannot see from here: department seminars that never leave a university mailing list, Lazio Innova sessions announced four days out, and the developer groups that post only in a Telegram channel. Rome has all three, in quantity. If you run one or go to one, send it over and it goes on the Rome page. The number on this page moves when readers move it.
Across the network: Milan has twelve this week, and the Milan edition opens on a trading floor at Superstudio Village with more than 6,000 people expected.
