Rome tech events this week: the calendar keeps ministry hours (6-12 November 2026)

Rome tech events 6-12 Nov: the Ministry of Culture opens two days on digitising heritage, Sapienza takes on AI in the state, a game jam takes the weekend.

Rome tech events this week: the calendar keeps ministry hours

Rome's week starts at 09:30 and is usually over by lunch. Of the five tech events in Rome on our page between Friday 6 and Thursday 12 November, three open between 09:30 and 10:30 on a weekday morning — what a calendar looks like when the people convening it work for a ministry, a university or a research institute. Two start after six, and one of those runs through the weekend.

Rome is the earliest-stage calendar we run. Three passes since last Friday turned up nothing new, so five is the visible supply, not a shortlist. Fewer rooms, and we can tell you who called each meeting.

Theme of the week: the state working out what it thinks about AI

Three of the five are the Italian public sector deciding its own position: two days from the Ministry of Culture on what gets digitised, an evening at Sapienza on whether and how public administrations should introduce AI at all. No other city on this network puts that much of the state into one week.

Office hours: two before the big one

Fri 6 Nov, 09:30 — PMexpo 2026 — 15th edition, Auditorium del Massimo. Italy's main project management gathering, fifteenth edition, over a thousand people at the last one. Not a startup room: the attendees run programmes inside large organisations, which makes it the best buyer room Rome has shown us in six weeks.

Tue 10 Nov, 10:00 — Energy Independence Forum 2026, Aula Magna at Roma Tre. One day from I-Com, the Institute for Competitiveness, under the patronage of Italy's environment and energy security ministry. Featured on our page. Energy independence is an industrial-policy argument in Italy before it is a technology one.

The big one: the Ministry of Culture opens the digitisation question

Wed 11 Nov, 10:30 — Digital in Culture Summit — Preserving the past, designing tomorrow, Istituto Centrale per la Grafica. Two days in the Sala Dante, run by the Italian Ministry of Culture's digitalisation directorate. Featured.

The Italian title calls it Stati Generali — a general assembly, which is the format: the ministry convenes the sector rather than presenting at it. Rome is the only city on this network where heritage is a serious technology buyer, and the people who decide what gets digitised, with whose money, work a few tram stops from each other. Go if you build near an archive, a catalogue or a procurement form.

After six: the two rooms that break the pattern

Fri 6 Nov, 18:30 — Roma Game Jam 2026, AANT Accademia delle Arti e Nuove Tecnologie. Third edition of the Roma Game Dev community's jam: 48 hours to build a game from scratch, small teams, Friday evening through Sunday evening. Our row is one Friday slot, so the weekend looks empty on the Rome page. It is not, if you are in the jam — the only room all week you leave with something built.

Thu 12 Nov, 18:30 — Deciding on AI: Artificial Intelligence in Public Administration, DIAG, Sapienza Università di Roma. Second annual conference from the think tank Concreta-Mente with Sapienza's DIAG department, on how Italian public administrations should actually introduce AI. Featured. The word doing the work is "deciding": who signs, who carries the liability, what a tender has to say. If you sell to the Italian state, two hours here beats a consultant.

Who should go where

Builders get the better end of this week. Friday 18:30 at AANT, and stay the 48 hours. The daytime rooms are convegni: policy, not implementation.

Founders. Tuesday if you are near energy, Wednesday if you touch culture, archives or tourism. Both put you in front of the people who set budgets rather than the people who spend them.

Investors. Nothing with a stage clock in these seven days: no pitch night, no demo day. Tuesday's energy forum is the nearest thing to signal, and it is policy-level — price it that way.

FAQ corner

Are these Rome events really free?

All five read free and not one organiser publishes a figure. Our intake records a missing price as free, so read the label as "nothing published" rather than "walk in". Register anyway, under the name on your ID: four of the five rooms are a ministry institute, a university aula magna, an auditorium or an arts academy first, and an event venue second.

Worth knowing

Two of the five came from sources that are not on our own list. PMexpo surfaced on a published Italian digital-events calendar; the culture summit off the Ministry of Culture's own events page.

This week was empty when we first looked at it. In September the week of 9 November held nothing at all on the Rome page. It holds three now, all spotlighted.

Coming up, and the ask

Just past the window: the Unindustria DPO and CISO community on Monday 16 November, the Digital Italy Summit 2026 at Spazio Vittoria on Wednesday 18 November, and the Mindstone Rome AI meetup back at Talent Garden Ostiense on Thursday 19 November. The meetup matters most of the three: evening practitioner rooms are what Rome is shortest of.

Everything we hold sits on the Rome listings page. What we cannot see from here: department seminars that never leave a mailing list, Lazio Innova sessions announced four days out, developer groups that post only in Telegram. Send us one and it goes up.
