Rome tech events this week: who is paying for the room (9–15 October 2026)
Rome tech events 9–15 Oct: DevFest Roma at Roma Tre, Cybertech Europe at La Nuvola, and 65 million euro of Lazio funding presented in two free rooms.
Rome announces 65 million euro of innovation funding this week, and does it inside a second-century temple: Friday's session sits in the Hadrianeum, now a hall the city lends to business. The newest thing in the room is a funding instrument; the room is nineteen hundred years old.
Eight tech events in Rome between Friday 9 and Thursday 15 October: one more than last week, seven of them free, and every single row carrying a venue and a price for the first time since we opened the city. Rome is the youngest calendar we run, so we have sorted it by the question that changes your decision — who is paying for the room.
The region is paying
Presentazione del nuovo Bando Filiere Tecnologiche - Regione Lazio, Fri 9 Oct, 11:30, Sala del Tempio di Vibia Sabina e Adriano. Free. Regione Lazio and Lazio Innova present the new Technology Supply Chains call: 55 million euro for innovation projects led by large companies and research centres. At seed stage you are a consortium partner here, not a lead applicant — which is the reason to go. Every research centre that will need a software partner is in one hall for a morning.
Presentazione del Bando Partecipazione Fiere Internazionali - 10 milioni per le PMI del Lazio, Tue 13 Oct, 12:00, WEGIL. Free. Ten million euro to put Lazio SMEs on stands at international trade fairs, across sectors. Paperwork, yes — and the cheapest route onto a foreign trade-fair floor a small Roman firm will get this year.
The big one: the sponsors are paying
DevFest Roma 2026 — Build, Secure, Scale: sviluppatori e builder nell'era agentica, Sat 10 Oct, 08:00, Università degli Studi Roma Tre — Ingegneria. Free. GDG Roma Città's flagship day: three parallel tracks, 500-plus people expected, a programme built on agentic development, security and scale.

The largest builder room Rome has shown us, and the one event worth rearranging a weekend for. Note the hour: 08:00 on a Saturday is a real commitment, so plan Friday night around it. There is a story behind it, below.
You are paying
Cybertech Europe 2026, Tue 13 Oct, 09:00, La Nuvola. 700 euro. Europe's flagship cyber conference returns to La Nuvola for two days on AI, cyber defence, data sovereignty and supply-chain security; last year drew senior government attendance. At 700 euro it is the steepest ticket we have pointed at in Rome: go if an employer is buying the badge, and if it is your own card, DevFest is free and three days earlier.

A fair or a vendor is paying
Guida autonoma: dalla sperimentazione a una mobilità nuova, Wed 14 Oct, 09:30, Roma Eventi - Piazza di Spagna. Free. Where Italian regulation stands on autonomous driving, what the trials have shown, and what still has to change before public roads.
Welfair 2026 - La fiera del fare sanità: 'Il sistema che cura', Wed 14 Oct, 09:30, Fiera Roma. Free. Seventh edition of Rome's healthcare fair, digital health and data among the named strands rather than a side stage. Procurement spends this day walking the floor, and procurement is who health tech sells to here. It opens the same minute as Guida autonoma and nowhere near it: choose before you board a train.
Adobe Creative Tour - workshop, demo live & more..., Thu 15 Oct, 14:30, Hotel Abitart. Free. Workshops and live demos on Adobe's creative tools and what generative AI is doing to them. The only room this week built for designers, and free: if that is you, this is your Thursday.
The bar is paying
Tech and Business Networking | Elevating Your Potential - Rome, Wed 14 Oct, 18:00, The Drunken Ship, Campo de' Fiori. Free entry. Strive Networking's October edition, the one recurring open-door tech evening Rome reliably produces, at an 18:00 start you can reach straight from the office. Worth a drink and three conversations — read the note below first.
Who should go where
Builders. Saturday, early, Roma Tre, no ticket. Everything else this week is somebody explaining something; DevFest is the only room where you sit beside people who shipped it.
Founders. Two free rooms, both regional money: Friday if your product has a research partner in it, Tuesday if you already sell abroad. No pitch night, no demo day in Rome this week — better said plainly than dressed up as dealflow.
Investors. Thin. Cybertech is the only room with institutional cheque-writers in it, and standing in it costs 700 euro. If you invest in Lazio, the two bando sessions are where the region allocates its own capital out loud. Sales: Wednesday at six, and nothing else.
FAQ corner
Are Rome's free events really free?
Seven of this week's eight are, no catch at the door: a region that wants applicants, a fair that wants footfall, a vendor that wants you trying the software. Register anyway — the recurring trap across our twelve cities is the gated room where a confirmation email is not a seat.
Worth knowing
The group we called quiet is running the biggest day of the week. Last Friday we listed GDG Roma Città among the Roman communities silent three weeks running. DevFest Roma 2026 is theirs: not dormant, just building a conference. Correction gladly made.
One evening, sixteen labels. Wednesday's Drunken Ship event is marketed under sixteen different sector labels: same room, same night, same organiser. If you meet it as an AI night or a fintech night, it is this one — one registration covers all sixteen.
Before you go
The full set sits on the Rome listings page. We have covered Rome for weeks, not years, and what we cannot see from outside is the community that is quiet in public but still meets, or the founders' dinner living on a WhatsApp group. Run one, or go to one? Send it over.
