About this event

Dublin Data Science's monthly talk, this time on using directed acyclic graphs to model a chain of reinsurance treaties and calculate recoveries. Mick Cooney, one of the group's organisers, shows how tidyverse code, domain knowledge and functional techniques break a messy calculation into small pieces, with a full audit trail for the odd results these calculations throw up. Thursday 29 October, 18:30 to 20:30, Trinity Business School, Pearse Street (BoI Room 225). Free, RSVP on Meetup. Why go: a practical talk on making a hard-to-debug calculation traceable, from someone who has done it. Best for data scientists and analysts in insurance or finance, and anyone who likes functional programming applied to a real problem.
