Linux Tech Talks: Building from Source & Sharing Logic Across Applications

Two lightning talks on Linux and C++ in the back of Anseo on Camden Street. Aleksei Markov covers building software from source properly - pulling dependencies, the usual configuration and build traps, and doing it so the result can actually be uninstalled afterwards, which matters when packaged versions do not give you the build options you need. Sascha Bacardit Cuomo of SiriusXM then takes sharing platform-agnostic business logic across applications: connecting native UIs to a shared core, through IPC services or libraries exposed over the C ABI, with maintainability and limited headcount as the constraint. 19:30, free, beginners explicitly welcome. Why go: two specific engineering problems, explained by people who hit them at work, with no vendor behind either. Best for systems and C++ developers and anyone maintaining cross-platform code.
