About this event

The Society of Electron Microscope Technology's winter meeting, hosted at the Francis Crick Institute on Midland Road. Seven invited speakers plus eight early-career talks run through the Royal Microscopical Society beginners competition. The programme spans new instrument design, bioimaging and cryo-SEM, using SEM to supplement macrophotography, new probes for confocal microscopy, EBSD applications, atom probe microscopy, XPS and Raman spectroscopy, and microscopy in food research. It is a full day, 09:00 to 18:00, in the Crick's auditorium. There is a registration fee covering room hire and speaker travel; the listing does not state the amount. An optional virtual stream costs the same, with joining details sent to registrants on 2 December. Refunds up to seven days before. Why go: instrument-level detail you will not get from a conference keynote, and the early-career competition is a good read on where imaging technique is heading. Best for microscopists, materials and bio-imaging researchers, and instrument vendors.
