W3PN x MozFest meetup

The privacy-tech fringe to Mozilla Festival, held the evening before the festival opens and in the same Sant Andreu neighbourhood. The speaker list is the reason to pay attention. Isabela Fernandes, Executive Director of the Tor Project, is on it, alongside Kay Coghill of BlackSky Algorithms, Mozilla Fellow Valentina Aguana Villegas on digital security for activists, Julian Mair of Phoenix R&D on the in-house MLS encryption behind Air messaging, Jordi Pinyana of Vocdoni on the Catalan-built private voting protocol that has processed 200,000 votes across unions and co-ops, Tessa Brown of Germ Network and Prague hacklab co-founder Mario Havel. Talks, circles, panels and debates, 17:00 to 21:00, free. La Cinetika is a self-managed squatted cinema on Rambla de Fabra i Puig; the entrance is on Carrer de les Monges. Why go: a room where people actually shipping privacy infrastructure compare notes with the activists using it. Best for cryptography and protocol engineers, and anyone working on surveillance policy.
