About this event

An afternoon at Publix on a narrow and useful question: AI systems compute probabilities rather than judge what is true, so what happens to credibility when much of what we read, see and hear is no longer clearly of human origin. Media scholar Mads Pankow opens with a keynote on how social media and AI have shifted the criteria people use to decide what to believe. The panel that follows is unusually well mixed — Nicole Steng from the digital education team at the Dachau memorial, Jakob Tesch of Gretchen AI, AI ethics professor Dorothea Winter of Universität Osnabrück, and Technologiestiftung chair Nicolas Zimmer. Labelling of AI content, AI-edited photographs and data poisoning are all on the table. Get-together from 16:30, close at 17:00. In German. Free, hosted by Technologiestiftung Berlin. Why go: putting a memorial-site educator next to an AI vendor is a sharper framing than the usual misinformation panel. Best for journalists, educators and anyone building provenance or labelling into a product.
