About this event

The last Golang Birmingham of 2026 — two technical talks and then networking, at Bluetel Solutions on Temple Row. Godsend Joseph opens with a concurrency bug from a multi-tenant Go SaaS: an API key with one credit left, two requests arriving together, and both of them going through. He reproduces it live, explains why check-then-decrement cannot fix it, and walks through the usage ledger and Postgres advisory locks he used instead, plus how he stores API keys so a database leak doesn't hand anyone a working one. Samuel Adetunji returns after a talk on writing unsafe Go safely; his topic is still to be announced. 6:00pm to 8:20pm, free, 26 places left at the time of writing. All experience levels welcome. Why go: a real engineering talk with a reproduced bug and a design decision its author will defend, which is rarer than it should be. Worth the trip for backend and platform engineers whether or not they write Go.
