Women in Tech: Behind the Build at Monzo

Monzo's Barcelona engineers host an evening for women in tech and allies at Aticco Diagrame in the 22@ district, with two short talks from inside the bank. Sophie Koonin, staff engineer on Operations, covers technical migrations at scale: how Monzo goes about upgrading libraries across a very large system, and what that has taught them about running the next migration better. Wei Ann Heng, senior backend engineer on Subscriptions, explains how the team designed Monzo's payday and bill-payment experience to make managing money less work for customers. Roughly 15 minutes each with 10 minutes of questions, then drinks, pizza and networking. Free. Bring ID to get into the building. Why go: migration war stories from a bank running them in production are rarer and more useful than another architecture talk. Best for backend engineers, platform teams and anyone in fintech.
