CARNET's annual symposium, this year on how data and AI are reshaping the automotive value chain and urban mobility, at the UPC civil engineering school on Carrer de Jordi Girona. The premise is that vehicles are becoming software-defined, data-generating machines while cities turn into dense networks of sensors and services, and that AI now sits across both: powering connected and automated vehicles, optimising traffic in real time, and giving public administrations new tools to plan and evaluate. The closing session of the Lighthouse Accelerator, a port and maritime innovation programme run by BlueTechPort with support from Mind the Bridge. Four hours covering the programme's results, the Blue Economy 2026 Report on where ports and the blue economy are heading, and a discussion of sector priorities with ecosystem representatives. The participating startups present their solutions, and the back half is given over to networking between founders, port operators and corporates. The organisers frame the whole thing around accelerating solutions that strengthen ocean industries while protecting the ecosystems they depend on, and it sits deliberately inside the wider cities and climate conversation rather than off on its own. The world's largest event on urban innovation, three days at Fira Gran Via and the anchor that pulls half of Barcelona's November tech calendar into its orbit. The 2026 congress programme runs with more than 600 international speakers across the themes the organisers put front and centre: responsible AI, data sovereignty, circular cities, energy efficiency, accessibility, sustainable mobility and open governance. Expect city leaders and high-level government representatives alongside 500-plus exhibitors showing market-ready urban systems, with partners from Microsoft, Google, Dell, Deloitte and Veolia through to UN-Habitat, the World Bank, C40 Cities and Eurocities. Terra50, run with Tomorrow.City, showcases fifty climate solutions already deployed and replicable elsewhere. Several parallel congresses sit inside the same venue and pass. Why go: the one week a year when the people who actually buy and deploy city technology are all in Barcelona at once. The urban mobility congress that runs inside Smart City Expo at Fira Gran Via, with its own programme of around 240 speakers. The agenda is the practical end of mobility rather than the concept-car end: public transport, walkability, accessibility, smart logistics, multimodality, electrification, shared mobility and safe streets, with autonomy treated as one strand rather than the headline. It shares the Smart City Expo exhibition floor and pass, so the 1,100-plus exhibiting companies and government bodies and the city delegations are the same audience, which is the point: the buyers here are transport authorities and municipalities. A startup programme and an AI research showcase run alongside the congress. Why go: mobility suppliers and the public bodies that procure from them in the same hall for three days, which is otherwise a year of meetings. Best for mobility operators, transport planners and anyone selling into transport authorities.

Three days of cybersecurity at Fira Gran Via, Hall 2, running alongside Smart City Expo week and pitched squarely at security leadership rather than at the research community. The tracks are AI and ML, zero trust, cloud and edge, IoT and 5G, quantum security, supply chain security, governance and policy, resilience and incident response, emerging threats, and privacy and ethics. Speakers announced include Marcos Gomez, CISO and Deputy Director of Corporate Security, Connie McIntosh, Head of Security, Tim Brown, partner and CISO in residence, Sounil Yu, Pekka Jokinen and Arvin Bansal. The fourth Barcelona edition of CNCF Sustainability Month, run by Cloud Native Barcelona with the Green Software Foundation Barcelona chapter and hosted by Schwarz Digits Spain on Carrer de Bergara. It is an annual event from the CNCF Environmental Sustainability Technical Community Group, aimed at environmental sustainability in cloud native and open source. The format is lightning talks: doors 18:30, an hour of ten-minute community talks from 18:45, then food and mingling until 20:30. The line-up is deliberately not fixed in advance: the call for speakers is open until 26 October, and the organisers say a finished project is not required — a new idea, a lesson learned or an open question is enough. Why go: short talks with a low bar to speaking is how you find out what people are actually trying, and the sustainability angle on cloud native is still thin ground. 22@Network Barcelona's afterwork, in a special edition timed for Smart City Expo week and held with Hotel Arts Barcelona on Carrer de la Marina. 22@Network is the association of the companies, startups, universities, technology centres and institutions in the 22@ innovation district, and this edition opens the usual members' evening out to the international delegations and innovation-district representatives in town for the congress. The organisers describe it plainly as an informal evening for meeting people and finding opportunities rather than a programme: no talks, no panels. Doors 18:30, two hours. Ticketed through Eventbrite with no refunds; the Eventbrite total stored against this listing is 18.15 euros, though the public page does not display a price until checkout. Why go: the 22@ district's own network is hard to get into from outside, and congress week is when it opens the door. Le Wagon's Barcelona campus hosts an evening of two talks on data products and data security, run in partnership with Women Techmakers Barcelona. The pairing is the interesting part: one half on how data products actually get built, the other on how teams keep sensitive information safe once those products exist. Both talks come from people doing this work day to day rather than from a platform vendor. The format is deliberately relaxed, with time set aside for questions and conversation afterwards. Tickets are €10. The speakers had not been announced when this was written — check the Meetup page before you book if the line-up matters to you. Why go: data security usually gets discussed separately from product work, which is exactly why it arrives late and expensive. An evening that puts both in the same room is worth two hours. The twelfth edition of WomanLiderTIC, the Catalan conference on women's leadership in ICT, run by Dones en Xarxa at the Movistar Centre on Placa de Catalunya. A full day of keynotes and panels on careers, digital skills and closing the gap in technology roles, 09:30 to 19:00. It sits deliberately inside Smart City Expo week, when the city is full of people in from elsewhere. Dones en Xarxa says speakers are invited from across Spain, but neither the programme, the speaker list nor a ticket price was published when this was written. In person at Placa de Catalunya 16, 08002. The listing text is in Catalan and Spanish. Why go: twelve editions means the network behind it is real, and this is the Barcelona room for women working in or moving into technical and ICT leadership. Go for the network rather than a named programme, and check the agenda before blocking out the whole day.

PyConES is the Spanish Python community's annual conference, and the 2026 edition runs over three days at the Universitat de Barcelona. Friday 6 November is a half day, 14:30 to 18:30 across five teaching rooms. Saturday is the long day, 07:30 to 18:30, with the Paraninfo and Aula Magna as main stages alongside sponsor-named rooms and a dedicated AI track. Sunday closes at 16:30. Talks are given in both Spanish and English, marked per session in the schedule. Tickets are €75 individual, €110 company and €30 for students with proof of enrolment; student validation can take a couple of days, so do not leave it to the last week. Why go: the largest Python gathering in Spain, in Barcelona this year, with a programme built by the community rather than a conference business. Best for Python developers, data and ML engineers, and anyone hiring them.

Barcelona | Claude & Coffee is a relaxed morning meet-up for women in tech — and anyone who wants to build alongside them — hosted by Fernanda Grace Lins, a Claude Ambassador in Barcelona who has worked across AI, cybersecurity, SaaS and proptech. It is hands-on, not a talk: bring a laptop and a project or task you want to make easier, explore what Claude can do, and ask questions over coffee. Registration is by approval (Request to Join), and the exact address in the Sant Pere / Santa Caterina i la Ribera area is shared once you're approved. Starts 10:00. Why go: a low-pressure room to actually try an AI tool on your own work with people who will help, rather than watch a demo. Best for women building in or moving into tech who learn by doing.

Gartner's main European conference for CIOs and IT executives, four days at the International Barcelona Convention Centre, 9 to 12 November. The programme is built around agentic AI, AI technology and infrastructure, cybersecurity and enterprise resilience, emerging technologies, and operating models. Gartner puts the scale at more than 6,500 CIOs and IT executives, over 130 of its own analysts and over 125 solution providers. Named sessions include distinguished VP analysts Kristin Moyer and Daryl Plummer, Shell country chair Marianne Olsnes with CIO Robbert van Rutten, Stanford lecturer Naomi Bagdonas, and guest keynotes from neuroscientist Helena Boschi and digital futurist Andreas Ekström. Paid, and Gartner has not published the registration fee or the daily start times on the event page. Why go: the analyst one-to-ones are the real product, and booking them early is what separates a useful four days from an expensive one. Best for CIOs, enterprise architects and IT leaders setting next year's budget.

A half-day congress on women in science, technology, engineering and maths, at CosmoCaixa in Barcelona, run by Global STEM Women. Eventbrite lists it as in person, 09:30 to 15:00, a five-and-a-half-hour programme at the Museo de la Ciencia CosmoCaixa, Carrer d'Isaac Newton 26. The organiser describes it as a meeting point for female talent in STEM. No speakers, agenda or ticket price are published on the registration page yet. Refunds are available up to seven days before. Why go: CosmoCaixa is a good room and the organiser is an established host, but the programme is still a blank page three weeks out, so treat this as one to watch rather than one to book on the strength of a lineup. Best for women working in STEM in Barcelona who are there for the networking.

Monthly lunch for women who invest in startups or want to start, run by SIA Angel Hub on the second Wednesday of the month. This edition is at El Tros de la Rambla, Rambla Catalunya 70, 13:00 to 15:00. Arrival and lunch ordering from 13:00, then round-table introductions, lunch and group discussion from 13:30. Attendees pay for their own lunch. Hosts are Astghik Z. and SIA Angel H. The page asks for a real interest in angel investing and turns away pure networkers and anyone promoting a business or services. Why go: one of very few investor-side rooms in Barcelona this month, and small enough for real conversation. Best for women angels, fund people and curious would-be investors.

A free evening workshop Le Wagon runs with codebar, aimed at people somewhere between beginner and working developer who are using AI tools and are not sure they are using them well. Two things are on offer side by side: programming fundamentals, and practical ways to work with AI tools responsibly. It suits you if you are learning to code and want guidance from experienced developers, if you are stuck on a personal project, or if you are thinking about moving into tech and want to know what that path looks like now. codebar is a non-profit of students and coaches that runs free coding meetups for women, LGBTQ+ people and others underrepresented in tech, in a deliberately collaborative setting. At Le Wagon's Carrer de la Diputacio space, 18:30 to 20:30. Why go: free one-to-one coaching from working developers is scarce, and the codebar format is built for people who find the usual meetup intimidating. Best for career switchers and self-taught beginners.

A hands-on session on Devin, the AI software engineering agent: what it is, how to hand it a task, how to review what it gives back, and how to fit it into an existing workflow. Itnig hosts at its cafe in Poblenou. The agenda is set - registration 18:00, introduction 18:30, an hour of building with Devin from 19:00, project presentations at 20:00, then networking. No speakers are named. Free, capacity limited, attendance has to be confirmed. One caveat from the page itself: the header says the session is in Spanish while the practical information says English with English Q&A. Worth asking the organisers before you commit.
