Open by Joivy, 20135 Milano MI

The Milan edition of Tech Startups in the Pub, the relaxed networking series that has been running in London for three and a half years and now lands monthly on a terrace in Porta Romana. No panels, no pitching, no hard selling: just founders, operators, engineers and people simply curious about the tech scene, talking over a drink at the Open by Joivy coworking space. Host Volodymyr welcomes newcomers personally, so it is an unusually easy room to walk into alone. Note the start is 18:00 Italian time even though the platform displays a GMT slot, and the terrace closes around 21:00 to 21:30, so arriving early matters.

Tempio del Futuro Perduto, 20154 Milano MI

What happens when the people who make video games meet the people who write about them. The Scostumati, a developer community born on Discord during the pandemic that now brings together industry professionals and students, hosts an open debate between game developers and specialist journalists at Tempio del Futuro Perduto. After years of running their panels inside other people's events, the collective decided to build its own: live evenings designed to make the community feel at home and to have a frank conversation about how games get made and how they get covered in Italy. Free entry, and useful for anyone working in game dev, media, design or communications.

with Giordano Guerrini (Co-Founder, Finera) · Danilo Zanni (Consulente finanziario indipendente, Independent)

Connessioni Pro starts from an uncomfortable premise: traditional networking does not work, because it produces too much noise and too many business cards forgotten the next day. Their answer is a structured format at Randstad Box, where after registering you fill in a three-minute profile and an algorithm pairs attendees by role, goal and what they offer or are looking for, assigning your most relevant matches before you even walk into the room. The evening opens at 18:30 with a walkthrough of the matching technology, continues with a practical talk from Giordano Guerrini, Co-Founder of Finera, on grants, export and subsidised finance, and closes with drinks and guided networking. Aimed at entrepreneurs, founders, managers and B2B professionals; places are limited.

Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber, 20122 Milano MI

Two days at Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber built around a question that concerns anyone working with technology: how do you safeguard time in the age of artificial intelligence. TBH Forum bills itself as the first experiential forum that puts people at the centre of sustainable action, tracing a path from individual awareness through to collective responsibility. On stage are entrepreneurs, artists, neuroscientists and thinkers gathered around a single argument: human value as a common good and a strategic investment, capable of turning uncertainty into trust. Day one, on 11 September, is titled From Lived Time to Stolen Time; day two, on 12 September, From Awakening to Transformation. Both run from 10:00 to 18:00.

A full afternoon built for Italy’s indie game development scene, hosted at Talent Garden Isola. The programme runs gamified icebreakers into technical talks, panels and hands-on workshops, with desks staffed by publishers and studios looking for teams. It closes with an aperitivo from 20:00, so the networking has somewhere to go. Speakers and the full agenda are due to be announced shortly — worth watching if you build, publish or invest in games.

WAO Isola, 20159 Milano

A fortnightly hands-on coding evening run by the TDD Milano community at WAO Isola. Bring a laptop and a problem: the format is pair and mob programming on katas and real code, with test-driven development as the shared discipline rather than the lecture topic. It is deliberately low-ceremony — no slides, no sponsor pitch — and open to anyone who writes software, whatever the language. A reliable way to meet Milan developers who care about craft.

A murder-mystery game built on Scrum, hosted by Business Integration Partners. Teams work through clues, suspects and plot twists to reconstruct what went wrong in a sprint, surfacing how roles, accountabilities and artefacts actually behave under pressure. Angelo Sala and Marco D’Andrea run both the in-person and online versions in the same session, so you can see how each format changes the learning. Aimed at Scrum Masters, Product Owners, developers and curious leaders; April’s edition sold out, hence the repeat.

The opening event of a new Smart City Talks series, run by Italian Tech Alliance with LifeGate Way at SmartCityLab Milano. The session looks at where mobility innovation and sustainability actually meet — the technologies, the business models and the capital behind them — with founders, investors and operators in the room rather than on a stage apart from it. Italian Tech Alliance is the national association for the innovation ecosystem, so the audience skews to people who fund and build this. Free, but places at Ripamonti are limited.

Talent Garden Calabiana, 20139 Milano

A hybrid of factory and hackathon, hosted at Talent Garden’s Calabiana campus. Scale-ups bring a real business problem; AI-first development teams spend the session building something production-oriented against it. Solutions are presented at the end and voted on by the scale-ups themselves, with the strongest teams carrying the work forward afterwards. The format is positioned explicitly against demo-only hackathons — the point is what survives contact with a paying company.
